This Year's Model Updates:

For the 2006 Nissan Titan, SE crew cabs can be ordered with a sunroof, and the LE trim now comes with two new features: standard dual-zone climate control and upgraded side mirrors that have heat, power-fold, auto-dimming and turn signal capability. Other updates for the Nissan truck include MP3-compatible audio systems and a change to allow the stability control system to be ordered with the locking rear differential.

Pros:
  • One of the best drivetrains in its class, smooth-riding suspension, spacious and functional cabin, innovative design features, available stability control and side airbags.
Cons:
  • Limited drivetrain and body style choices, no heavy-duty models, burly exhaust note can get annoying on long drives.

Use this truck for work. V8 305 HP shows when you crank the gas pedal to leave other trucks behind. Best truck I have ever own.

I waited a couple of years before buying my titan to see how the truck held up. To me, I am very pleased to see how solid the titan is. The power, the looks, the excitement, the reliability, and the compliments has kept me happy about my titan. I am impressed with how much more power is there even while towing a trailer loaded with my other car going 70-80 mph with a/c on. My only suggestion when towing is making sure there is automatic trailer brakes or replaced the stock brakes with heavy duty brakes.

This truck is simply incredible. The appearance and power is awesome. Where my 2004 GMC had to hard-down shift and tach to 4200 to maintain 70 mph on the interstate, this truck doesnt downshift and the tach isnt above 2000 - it is hardly breathing!! There are a few things that Nissan could do better - offer fold-in mirrors as an option with the tow package, use a different color for the odometer (yellow fades out in the sun), and offer CD slots in the middle console. One last thing - to keep the gas mileage in the reasonable range, go easy on the gas pedal. Ive been getting 17.5 mpg and think thats fine for an engine and power combination of this size.

When I went looking for a new truck, I decided I needed a crew cab because of my kids. Well being a die hard GMC person thats where I went 1st. Prices for a 2 wheel drive four door were crazy!!! To make a long story short I tried every full size truck on the market. I was about to purchase a 2006 dodge with a hemi, when a friend suggested nissan. I was not looking for a Japanese vehicle I told him. Well after he convinced me to test drive a TITAN I bought the truck the same day. My deep water blue TITAN is the best truck I have ever owned Nissan got this one right!

Incredible power to start with, further increased with Volant air intake and Gibson dual exhaust with corresponding MPG improvement-approx 2-3 MPG. Great handling after changing stock Goodyear Wranglers to Goodrich All Terrains and still with sedan-like ride. Solid- comfy-well appointed interior with wonderful sound system and power back window. Excellent truck bed management layout including tailgate dampers. Overall, very well designed and engineered with tremendous attention to details. Now that Nissan has gotten over the brake shimmy problem and electrical problem, Consumer Report will have to do a follow-up with vastly different result. An Outstanding Truck- Edmunds is Right On!

  • Not reliable - 2006 Nissan Titan

Owned this truck for 7 years and had many problems with it. There were also many recalls. Looks nice but not very tough. Nissan also did not help me out when needed. I was a Nissan owner for 20 years (Pathfinder & Exterra before the Titan) but because of Nissan not caring about my problems I have now switched to Toyota.

Got this car brand new from a dealer in 2006 here is a list of all problems i had exhaust leak at 32 km axle seal leak at 55 km breaks wore out every 12 to 15 km emergency breaks still doesnt works (dealer said its normal) very weak to haul heavy loads! what i do like about it that it is comfortable inside for a longer trips. Interior design is very simple and easy. average on mixed driving maybe 13.5 mpg.

Overall this has been a great truck. My only complaint is I have never been able to get the highway fuel economy stated on the window sticker. I was never expecting hybrid mileage but it would be nice to at least get what Nissan is claiming. I am one that trades autos very often but am thinking this will be one I will keep for some time.

  • MIXED Feelings?? - 2006 Nissan Titan

There are things about this Truck I love and things I hate. The performance as far as road handeling and power are Great, this truck moves when you put your foot in it! stability steering all good even at high speed. Off Road is very poor, Handeling is rough, I have had to replace sway bar mounts 5 times the last time with a beefed up aftermarket kit and instead of the joints breaking the whole sway bar broke off. multiple broken u joints, you might think im beating this truck to death, this is simple offroad washbed driving not trail running, jumping crazieness like I used to do in my Silverado. Paint is completely faded in roof, hood and wheel wells and ive hand waxed it 4 times a year .
