This Year's Model Updates:

SE models now include a manual-shift mode for the CVT, and satellite radio pre-wiring is standard on all models. The standard driver seat now features 10-way power adjustment.

Pros:
  • Excellent handling, comfortable and practical interior, unique styling inside and out, smooth and powerful engine.
Cons:
  • Continuously variable transmission detracts from performance, SE model rides harshly, no third-row seat, gets pricey with options.

Love the styling, comfort, power. The room is sufficient for daily Dad Duties, including coaching. Mileage is not up to rating, but not by much. Leg room is critical, and ample.

  • Edmunds is wrong about the CVT - 2004 Nissan Murano

Excellent total package, and the good thing is it doesnt look like all the other two-box SUVs. I dont know why Edmunds says the CVT saps power. This veh is very peppy; Car & Driver described the CVT as making the V-6 perform like a V-8 and I agree. Flawless fit & finish, everything works, handles well. In recent snows, AWD is seamless,ie, its there doing its intended thing without bringing attention to itself. No complaints at all.

A great vehicle for the price. Better than a Lexus RX, BMW and definately better than a Volvo. Rides well, handles great and plenty of power.

With three growing boys and many weekend road trips, we really appreciate the roominess and power. They are all headed toward six feet tall and have no complaints. Also, the side curtain airbags give me peace of mind. My husband loves the horsepower, and sometimes leaves his BMW in the garage. The acceleration, even fully loaded and uphill, is very responsive and satisfying. I understand the average gas mileage (18.8) is good for an SUV. I chose the Murano over the Lexus because of the better gas mileage, better turning radius, sportier ride, and much lower price.

This car has been a pleasure to own. It performs well around the city ,but it is esp. appreciated on the highway.Very stable at high speeds. The lift gate opens wide to an easily accessable flat interior compartment.

The Murano is a beautifully designed vehicle, inside and out. I get compliments on the design and color very often. After owning a Grand Cherokee with some disappointments, I am truly impressed with the Muranos handling, comfort and style. Im very happy I purchased the SE model and am equally happy I didnt get suckered for the expensive options. I got a great crossover vehicle for a great value.

  • Loving my Murano - 2004 Nissan Murano

Had a 97 Ford Explorer and loved having 4 wheel drive. Started researching out the SUVs, and found out my boss had just bought a Murano. 5 minutes in his told me I knew what vehicle I wanted. I went to the dealer, found the color I wanted and worked out the numbers. Drove it home 3 days later. Best purchase I have ever made.

  • Not your standard SUV - 2004 Nissan Murano

I bought a black SEL at the end of September. I was turning in a leased Jeep Larado and there is no comparison. I wanted another SUV, I like being highter than most cars and I didnt want a vehicle that looked like a station wagon. I had no need for a third row seat and enjoy the roomy interior of my Murano. I havent notice any issues with the transmission and my son who lives to drive fast cars thought it handles very well. I wanted a navigation system and there wasnt a lot of choices in this price range.

In 2002,my husband and I were in California visiting my brother when he saw a commercial advertising the then- to-come Nissan Murano. It was at that point he became infatuated with the car and talked constantly about test driving it and owning it. Well, last year, we were in the market for a new vehicle and we went to the dealership to take a test drive. We were both very impressed with the vehicle, and a year later, we are still impressed. Next year, we hope to drive across country to Denver, Washington,DC, and California.

Milage has been at 18-19 in mainly city driving. Blast to drive - comfortable, fairly quiet, great handling. Nobody makes a better V-6 than Nissan. CVT trans has been great - do not really see a big detraction from performance because of it like some claim.
