This Year's Model Updates:

SE models now include a manual-shift mode for the CVT, and satellite radio pre-wiring is standard on all models. The standard driver seat now features 10-way power adjustment.

Pros:
  • Excellent handling, comfortable and practical interior, unique styling inside and out, smooth and powerful engine.
Cons:
  • Continuously variable transmission detracts from performance, SE model rides harshly, no third-row seat, gets pricey with options.

  • Still fun after 1-1/2 Years - 2004 Nissan Murano

I have 18,000 miles on my Murano and I still smile when I drive it. I did have to have the alternator replaced recently when it failed. Nissan knows about this issue on some Muranos and paid for the tow and replacement. have a friend with a 500 Mercedes SUV who is amazed at the comfort and performance of my car - for a lot less $$. Back seat fits tall guys and interior can hold a ton of stuff. I changed oil to Mobile 1 at first change and mileage improved right away. In heavy traffic I get close to 20, on the highway as much as 25. I have a few minor issues with the car but cannot think of a single vehicle I would prefer to drive. Acceleration is smooth and quick.

I never thought I was an SUV person, I went to buy a Maxima. This car was a super surprise.

I have been driving my Sunlit Copper SL AWD for nearly a year now. This is, by far the best vehicle I have ever owned. Yes,the mileage is not what they said it would be, however these are only comparison mileage figures, I dont know of a car that actually gets what the sticker says. I get around 19 mpg if I drive like I have good sense. The CVT tranny is tricky at first, if you put your foot in it, it will eat gas. Once I got used to the way it operated it was all good.

  • BMW X5 Killer - 2004 Nissan Murano

Read Pro car reviews on this vehicle all very highly rate this car. Outperforms BMW X5 and is 10-20K less. If you enjoy driving performance you will not find a better car in this class for the money. Have had car for 7 months now and I am very glad I got the Murano and not the Pilot,Highlander,Ect. This car is fun to drive! It gets lots of looks and people always asking about it. Have driven car on some long trips and through all types of roads, terrain and deep snow. The CVT trans and the 3.5L 245HP is an awsome match. The trans is computer controlled, no gears so it is always at the perfect RPM at any given condition up hill or down hill.

  • Great Car for the price! - 2004 Nissan Murano

Loved the car from the first time I saw it. Had been looking at the Infiniti FX35. Murano had all the same features but for 10K less. I have had no problems at all with the car. Its the best car I have ever owned.

  • Love this car!! - 2004 Nissan Murano

I couldnt be happier with this car and it is absolutely the best one Ive had in 20 years. Compliments and inquiries are the norm for my Murano. Once while stuck in traffic, a woman rolled down her window to ask me what I thought of the car! One major design flaw which I reported to the dealer is about the rear passenger windows -- if you put them both down at the same time while driving more than 30mph, you hear this very, very, very loud wind beating sound. I took the dealer rep for a ride to show him, and hed never heard anything like that and said hed submit the info to Nissan. Otherwise, I absolutely love this car and will keep it for a long time.

  • Murano New Look-Good SUV Mileage - 2004 Nissan Murano

Nicely styled, good instrumentation, the GPS system is exceptional. ONE BAD ITEM:The SAT XM radio was suppose to be part of my car audio package, but was NOT included, Nissan has refused to resolve this matter-even though 5 dealers said the would be included. NO XM. Otherwise a nice car overall! Comfortable seats, good driving visibility, mileage averages about 20,0 much better than most SUVs. CVT transmission has an unusual feel, however seems to work quite well. Handle well in the snow!

The engineering in this new Murano is just amazing. The vehical dynamic contol system keeps this vehical very stable on snow slick roads. It is the most comfortable, safe, quite and reliable vehical I ever had. I was a fleet manager for Chevrolet for almost 20 years and Ive driven more cars and trucks then most people. This is truly the new trend for the automotive industry to follow. Crossover SUV

I love it. It looks cool, its comfortable on long trips, & acceleration is great. A very smooth ride, thanks to the cvt, I never feel any jerky shift changes.
