This Year's Model Updates:

For 2011, the Nissan Maxima sees only a handful of minor changes. Among them, the exhaust tips are different and the available Sport package gets smoked headlights, a dark chrome grille and gray stitching for the upholstery.

Pros:
  • Excellent iPod integration.
  • Strong V6
  • High-quality interior with high-tech features
  • Precise steering
Cons:
  • Optional equipment stuffed into expensive packages.
  • Lacks the brand cachet its price tag implies

  • Maxima is what it is - 2011 Nissan Maxima

Good car. Better than the 2007 TL that I traded in for. Good ride and comfort. Nothing is wearing out. Only one problem is the front drivers seat is loose and can only be fixed with new parts, which are too expensive so it will stay as it is. Doesnt effect driving, just annoying sometimes.

  • Love this car - 2011 Nissan Maxima

Owned 1992 SE, bought new, drove it 120k miles-no trouble great car. Next came 1999 528i, bought new in 2000, drove 135k miles...spent way too much in repairs and maintenance-tired of getting robbed by the dealers. Love the new body style of 2009 Max...bought new in Jan 09. Tested A4, ES350,G35x, Acura TL. Nothing close. This car will crush the 528 anyday. I have almost 80k miles now-only investment has been gas, oil changes, one set of tires all around and front brake pads only-everything else still original and looks great (yes garaged). The cost of ownership has been incredible. Yes I will get another Max.

I bought a 2011 SV with Premium package in February. I previously owned a 1998 Maxima SE 5speed manual that I bought new. This new Max has better steering but the CVT in automatic mode is awful and the torque steer at higher speed (75-85mph) is dangerous. My dealer experience also left a lot to be desired.

  • Not so sporty - 2011 Nissan Maxima

This is a decent all round car which Nisson likes to advertise as sporty. The styling is so/so but the thing that really holds it back is the dreaded continuously variable transmission (CVT) While having just shy of 300 horses the car is a major dog off the line. The CVT makes a loud howling sound but it lacks the snap of a normal tranny. Additionally, handling is mediocore at best. I only kept the car through 20,000 miles but had no mechanical problems.

  • 4000 Mile Update, love it with a few gripes. - 2011 Nissan Maxima

My overall satisfaction with the maxima has been very good, not spectacular, but very good. Lets get the bad things out of the way first. Annoying rattle coming from the rear deck, rear deck speakers, brake light or somewhere. I have never owned a car with any rattle before so not impressed, it didnt do it when I took it in of course but will keep looking. On sunny days the auto climate control fan speed stays on way to high, will never calm down. My 08 altima didnt do this. The passenger seat is one of the most uncomfortable seats ever ridden in, thank god I never have too. It sits to tall, almost like it was designed for a kid, and much more adjustability needed.

  • Rattles - 2011 Nissan Maxima

Love everything about the car except the rattles. I hear one above the steering column. There is one on the plastic piece that has all the temperature and radio buttons. I hear one over by the passenger side where the seat belt is located. Of course these rattles come and go. I took it to the dealer who appearently fixed a rattle but I couldnt tell. Also said that the rattle where the radio butttons were couldnt be fixed yet they somehow made the rattle louder. You also can actually see my passenger seat vibrate as Im driving although the wife doesnt mind it:)

  • Rattles and more. - 2011 Nissan Maxima

This car has more ratttles than a babies crib! I cant even find them all. I cant open the sun roof it rattles so bad. I have one coming from the back some where. There are others. The seats belts scratch up the inside of the passager sides. I also have a strong gasoline odor at times. Car is on its way to the shop.

  • Not perfect, but is still Nissans 4DSC - 2011 Nissan Maxima

I bought my 2011 SV Sport right as the 2012s were coming out so I got a decent deal. I was really looking at Infiniti G37s but those dealers werent negotiating. The sport package is the best looking version, IMO due to the 19 inch wheels and smoked headlights, and its equipped with some of the extra goodies I would have wanted anyways. As of 9/17/12, I am just shy of 7000 miles on the odo.

  • Nissan disappointing FAST - 2011 Nissan Maxima

I now have 14,000 miles on my maxima SV premium edition and I have to say I wont buy another nissan product. I have had a bad rattle in the car since day one, headliner above the back seat(they made it little better recently). Front hood rubber seal keeps popping out of its space. A creaking dash/windshield area? The car went into a lockup mode last week and had to be towed to the dealer and the whole computer system rebooted. Now I have two more rattles in upper dash and climate control area. I have only owned 2 nissans, altima before which I loved, now maxima. Thats a bad satisfaction ratio. Owned plenty of toyotas and honda products with no rattles or issues above 100k miles.

  • My 2011 Maxima - 2011 Nissan Maxima

Ive had it long enough to ensure a quantify review. Ive had no issues with anything in or in the car. Mine is maxed out and is a pure pleasure to drive. No Mechanical issues whatsoever. My has the sport suspension so its a bit bumpy on poor roads, on good roads its a dream. The Trans in this car is not for performance, its to save on gas, its NOT a sports car regardless of what Nissan says, cvt cant be a sports transmission. I find myself using the paddle shifters much of the time.
