  • Best Truck Ever Made - 2008 Nissan Frontier

The drive is solid. The power is excellent and it is very quiet and comfortable inside. I compared it to the Toyota tacoma and the Ford ranger. It was obvious to me that there were very large quality differences. The Frontier was a much nicer vehicle then the other two makes that I compared it with. Also the value of the dollar for similar features beat the Toyota. Buy this truck if you want to be completely satisfied with your decision.

It was between a Ford Sport Trac and The Nissan. I have a 99 Ranger with 334K on it and still running with no major repairs. After comparing the two, Sport Trac vs Frontier I picked the Nissan for mainly two things, price, Frontier was less expensive and second, it had a longer bed.

  • 2008 Nissan Frontier Excellent Mid-Size Truck!! - 2008 Nissan Frontier

I bought this 2008 Nissan Frontier LE 4WD CC 6ft bed brand new and recently sold it in 2018 (kept it 10 years). Ive owned Toyotas (1994, 2004) before and I have to say that they are pretty comparable, in terms of performance and reliability. The Nissan had excellent power and decent fuel economy for the 4.0 liter V-6. The low-end torque is fantastic, I was never feeling like it was underpowered. The transmission was very smooth shifting and dependable, no problems whatsoever. The 4wd system, especially with the active electronic limited slip system (which even works in 4WD), worked flawlessly. Whether it was snow, mud, off-road trails, etc. my Frontier handled it like a champ. The combination of its modest size and weight really helped. The design of the Frontier is really well-thought out as well. The Utili-Trak system with the moveable tie-down cleats and optional bed extender were super useful during the 10 years I owned this truck. The comfort and convenience features of the truck were fantastic. Keep in mind, this was a 10 year old truck, so it cant compare to todays trucks that have many more safety, entertainment and creature comforts. But for its timeframe, Nissan did a great job giving us plenty of great features. The only reason I finally sold my Frontier is because my kids (who were little when I bought it back in 2008) grew up and I had to get a full-size crew cab truck. Otherwise, Id still have the Nissan today.

The truck drives very smooth. The engine is very responsive for a V6. The truck turns like a big truck.

  • So far so good!!!! - 2008 Nissan Frontier

The vehicle has been very good. No issues at all. It has been very reliable. Starts and runs well in all weather from 100 degress to -60 below. I live in canada and the truck gets used but not abused and has held up well. Still looks and feels like new. We have alot of bush roads up here and they are hard on vehicles. This truck does not have a squeak or rattle anywhere and thats impressive. I have driven all makes and models of trucks over the years and this is a very good truck. Mileage is good for this type of vehicle. I get around 22-24 mpg in four wheel drive on our snow and ice covered roads. I think this is pretty good.

I have over 50,000 miles on my 2008 Frontier. It has performed well. Gas mileage on the highway is about 20.5 mpg. Good in the snow (4wd). Rides very well on the highway. Smooth ride. No mechanical issues to date. Down side: Turning radius is an issue. It is hard to park and turn in tight spaces. Inside front cabin space is noticeably smaller than a Dakota (I have had 4 dakotas). The Nissan zip type toneau cover is terrible. The cross bar support brackets break easily, it cant seal well at the corners and thus it leaks, harder to remove than a snap-type cover. The standard radio is not as good as it should be (one disc, power is low, no aux audio input). Overall I like my truck.

Great family truck with lots of power. The Nismo model I purchased had all the features I was looking for including the most important feature of all, the full side curtain air bags. I highly recommend the Nissan Frontier.

It is a truck. Dont expect a car ride. Love the truck itself. Hate the gas mileage but it is 4WD. Gets me where I am going. Plenty of "Lets Go!".

I wanted to trade my 2WD Ranger for a 4WD. Looked at the Tacoma first then Nissan. No question Nissan is a MUCH better truck and value. You get more power and features for less money. The Nissan rides great and feels much more solid than the Tacoma. Styling is great inside and out with great features you are surprised to find. Many debate between these 2 trucks, go Nissan.

  • 6 mos review: still doing great! - 2008 Nissan Frontier
    By -

This is about 6 mos of use and 5,600 miles on the odometer. Turning circle is rather large but this is do in part to the longer wheel base and that is what helps provide a smooth highway ride. Still very comfortable on long trips. Very quiet interior, with little road, tire, or wind noise. I have averaged 24 mpg on regular fuel since I purchased this 6 mos ago. Mostly highway driving.
