  • This is "The Truck" - 2005 Nissan Frontier

This truck has been nothing but stellar! From daily driving to some serious off roading, the 05 Frontier has done nothing but amaze me. When I first heard about the truck I almost overlooked the truck, only because Im not a fan of the older styling but when I saw it on the lot, I ate my own words. The new body style stands out in a crowd, especially with the NISMO package. Of course, the body style isnt the whole package. The new VQ40DE engine is a real power house and doesnt require premium fuel. This engine performs, hands down. Interior is comfortable and looks geat. Not too much cab noise other than the tires (What do you expect with A/Ts?). Any other tricks for the competition nissan?

The 05 Frontier is the replacement for a 91 Nissan pick up that I have driven since new. Needless to say, theres a HUGE change here. The physical size of the truck is about the same size as the Dodge Dakota. The power is great for the size of the vehicle and it pulls a trailer like theres nothing back there. The suspension is a little stiff as you would expect from the off road package. I would like a little better gas milage, but i get about 16.6 avg. which isnt terrible. Interior is roomey, but some tall (6-4") people arent going to be comfortable. Build quality so far has been nearly flawless. I had to have the spring on the gas tank door re-set, but thats the only prob so far.

  • Chinese Firedrill - 2005 Nissan Frontier

This is a company vehicle used extensively offroad. Performs well off road. It comes without skid plate and managed to tear oil pan off first 2 months we had it going through a mud hole on a construction site that every other rig on the mountain traversed without incident. Aluminum rim destroyed first month and needed to replace all stock tires as well as they are junk. Most irritating thing about this unit is that is has no keyless entry yet only one key tumbler in drivers side door only. Result is that if you want to enter vehicle from passenger side you have to do a "Chinese firedrill" around the truck to open unit from drivers side door and return to passenger side. Moronic design.

  • Nice new ride - 2005 Nissan Frontier

Ive only had the truck for 3000 km, but so far Ive been nothing but impressed. The shifting is smooth and the power is excellent. Ive read some complaints about the gas mileage, but I just got back from a 2000 km road trip and averaged 24 mpg. For a new truck that has not been broken in I am satisfied. If you really need a truck you dont buy it to get 30+ mpg, you buy it to get the job done.

Bought news. was over $9000 less than the base Tundra. Has 4L six, massive power lousey gas mileage. Just towed a steel two horse trailer with two horses up 15% grade to yosimite pulled like a champ. Only mechanical issues is rear end went out under warranty and fuel sensor. Factory replaced with no issue. Nissan has way cooler looks than Toyota and a better overall value than Toyota. Some interior noise and squeaks. But I off road. I just changed the facotry tires and brakes at 78,000 miles. Every time I go to the dealer they try to buy it from me. Ran the sand dunes at Pismo fine people couldnt believe the power or abilities. Did I mention no accelorator problems? GO NISSAN!

  • A Competitive Truck - 2005 Nissan Frontier

I selected Frontier over all other pickups after extensive research. With 2,000 miles on it I have experienced no problems. It handles well and tows a small bass boat without effort. Engine power and torque is more than adequate and fuel economy has met EPA predictions for this model. It is also nice that all its performance is with regular gas. Well worth the price paid. With the large tires I have occasionaly felt feedback in the steering wheel on rough roads.

  • Nice Truck at a Nice Price - 2005 Nissan Frontier

Excellent rebuild of an old body style. Not even the same truck compared to the old hardbody design. The 4.0 Ltr motor has some very real power as the larger and heavier truck requires. Interior design and comfort is terrific and the exterior design is hard to distinguish between the Titan at a distance (nice look). Time will tell if it will perform as well as the old style. (The bed squeeks have to get that checked out) Wheres the keyless entry or alarm?

Bought my Crew Cab in May, 05. Almost 11,000 miles now & still love it. Everything I wanted in a small pickup. Couldnt touch the Toyota (Price) and am now glad I didnt. Rides like a car on the highway. Roomy & confortable. Love that 4.0 liter V6. Strong and smooth. Pulls along in 6th gear at 75 mph around 2100 rpm. This is my 20 year vehicle.
