This Year's Model Updates:

The Ralliart debuts, bringing a 237-horsepower engine, all-wheel drive and an automated-clutch manual transmission to the Lancer lineup. The GTS trim gets more performance via a newly standard 2.4-liter 168-hp four-cylinder engine. The DE and ES trim levels retain the 2.0-liter 152-hp four. The GTS also gains new gauges this year, while the Fast Key keyless ignition and entry system migrates to the Sun and Sound package, leaving the hard-drive navigation system as a stand-alone option. The ES trim gains an optional Sport package that includes some of the GTS's styling elements, such as the big rear wing.

Pros:
  • Confident handling, impressive value, full array of available high-tech equipment, edgy styling, strong engines in GTS and Ralliart trims.
Cons:
  • No stability control except on Ralliart, power-sapping CVT, noisy base engine, subpar interior materials, unimpressive fuel economy.

  • Great all-around package!!! - 2009 Mitsubishi Lancer

I just purchased the 2009 Lancer GTS with CVT transmission, navigation system, and Rockford Fosgate sound system. The car handles like a dream, is so fun to drive it is unreal, and the fuel economy is great so far. Mitsubishi has developed this car with excellent design inside and out. The tech features are amazing for this price range. I am very happy with this car!

Very satisfied with this car. 28 mpg in mixed driving, 33 hwy. Smooth suspension, very comfortable. Great warranty, great features. Very fun to drive and great looking. The Hondas and Toyotas are ugly. Try one and youll love it. The CVT transmission just kills the power but it feels very peppy with the manual.

I drive the car daily to work it is great fun to drive and handles great, also took it on a couple of road trips it did great in highway, mountains, rain, uneven roads, and slippery roads. Really dependable will highly recommend good acceleration and good break response. Never had chipping problems or any other issues.

  • A Hi-Tech Delight - 2009 Mitsubishi Lancer

I was in the market for a fun-to-drive compact car with A/T. I liked the GTIs power and paddle shifters, the Civic EX-L with its stylish exterior, and the Zoom-zoom feedback from the 2010 Mazda3 hatchback GT. However, Ive found that the perfect combination of these features exists on a Lancer GTS, with all three available packages (sun & sound, technology and touring). Sure, it hasnt got the power of a GTI, but who redlines their cars on a daily basis? It handles just like a Mazda3 with lots of excitement, and it looks much better than all of the above mentioned models. At a price tag of a mere 22500 (w/rebates&tax), I can see myself smiling and enjoying this sweet ride for years to come.

  • Best in its class - 2009 Mitsubishi Lancer

Gorgeous car, gets a lot of attention. Drives very smooth, handles great and I love the response from the breaks. It has a great turning radius as well. This car is definitely not cookie-cutter, you wont see it along with all the Camrys and Civics, its unique all the way from its exterior to its features. Great buy, I couldnt be happier!
