This Year's Model Updates:

The Mitsubishi Galant has been completely redesigned this year to better suit the North American market. In other words, it's larger, has more power and additional features to better compete against the likes of the Honda Accord, Nissan Altima and Toyota Camry.

Pros:
  • Excellent balance between ride quality and handling, strong V6, stylish and comfortable cockpit, roomy backseat, solid build quality.
Cons:
  • No manual transmission or side curtain airbags, some interior materials feel cheap, questionable ergonomics, needs more storage space, low trunk capacity, no folding rear seat.

I have had my Mitsubishi Galant for less than one year and the O2 sensors and the catalytic converter went out.

The Mitsubishi Galant is not as great of a car as I thought. Its brakes have been a constant problem since 12,000 miles. It has 29,000 miles now. The brakes squeak 70% percent of the time. The dealer says there is nothing wrong and thats normal. I had the brakes replaced after 25,000 miles and they still squeak. Also, the interior rattles. My car doesnt even always start the first time. The sunroof scrapes when its closing. It doesnt have good pick up when trying to go from 60 to 80. It takes a few seconds to actually pick the speed up when doing that. Mitsubishi dealer service is terrible. The hubcaps get dirty quickly

I bought my Galant brand new in 2004. Ive had more problems with my car than any other car Ive ever had. Within the first 6 months, my horn stopped working which is pretty dangerous if I needed it to prevent an accident. I had squeaky breaks for months and paid over $900 to fix the problem. After replacing them twice and they still squeaked I ended up having to buy ceramic brake pads and that stopped the squeaking but I had to get management involved to even fix the problem. My headlights go out often! Ive just been very disappointed with this car. Im trying to keep it until it falls apart because the value has decreased too much.

My Galant has had issues for the last 2 years. I bought it brand new in 2004, and was pleased until recently. My blower on the air conditioner/heater has stopped working and my engine light has come on because there is a vacuum leak related to the gas line. My husband has a 2004 Endeavor, and its transmission has gone out. We will never buy anything from Mitsubishi again, and we would really like to send them back since we still owe on both of them and they are worth nothing to us. I am now driving a 1980 Oldsmobile that is more reliable than both of our Mitsubishis!!!!

  • Expensive to maintain - 2004 Mitsubishi Galant

Worst car I have owned. Lets see: - A/c condenser went out - 2 window motor/regulators replaced. - Check engine light multiple times. for one, needed spark plugs, tuning etc - check engine P0401 gas cap, valve replaced - timing belts recommended change at 60k. way too early it seems imho - need new struts - power steering acts funny in rainy weather
