This Year's Model Updates:

The TeleAid system is enhanced. Now reservations for travel as well as tickets for sporting and theater events can all be acquired from the considerable comfort of the S-Class' cabin.

Pros:
  • Stylish exterior design, spacious interior, nimble demeanor, powerful engine offerings, high-tech features.
Cons:
  • Complicated COMAND system, some cheap-feeling interior bits, BMW 7 Series is more fun to drive.

  • WAIT FOR NEXT YEARS MODEL!!!! - 2002 Mercedes-Benz S-Class

Definitally wait for next years (2003 S500). They are going to redesign the horrible COMMAND system, and upgrade the materials in the cabin. There are too many flimbsy plastics for a car like a S500. Power is pretty comparable to an LS430 or Q45.

I have had nothing but problems. Sure better not trust it on a trip. I have sat in a hotel room one week and looked at the wall while the car was in the shop. Navagation gave out on another trip . Plans were made for a trip this week but this time I never got out of town. All lights were on. I was in the service dept instead of leaving. This has been going on from the day I brought it home. Almost 2007 and only less than 35,000 miles. I am solving this problem.Talking to Lexus. Plans in the making for a 2007 LS 460 so I can travel again. I have driven nothing but a Mercedes and was a die hard lover of the car.

  • Lexus is so much better/bad radio - 2002 Mercedes-Benz S-Class

Get a Lexus LS430 Ultra lux; you get way more than a stripped S500 OR S430. The transmission on the S-class stinks, and not smooth at all. To much engine and wind noise. Also, the BOSE sound system is bad, compared to the Mark Levinson. The radio is filled with annoying and constant static noise, whether on FM, AM, or WB. THey have replaced everything to solve the problem: HOPELESS. And the COMMAND GPS system: HOPELESS TO USE.

  • I WANT TO KILL MYSELF - 2002 Mercedes-Benz S-Class

Mercedes and people overrate this piece of junk. You seriously pay only for the star. THe day I bought the car, the cupholders would pop out, and the sign said "ACTIVE BODY CONTROL TOO LOW- SEE WORKSHOP!", okay. The next day, my front armrest wouldnt open (dealership wouldnt say anything), so I could not access my mercedes Motorola V60 phone. (they ended up damaging the leather, alas, they wouldnt fix it). I am now scared to turn on the car

  • Bad judgement - 2002 Mercedes-Benz S-Class
    By -

This car is really scary and annoying. The cupholders work when it feels like working; sometimes it jams. Also, the designers did a lousy job designing the cupholders and seats. The passenger front doesnt have an armrest because the cupholder is there. and, the seats are so big that i tend to slide from side to side while changing lanes on the freeway. The COMMAND system is really disapointing, compared to ones on Acura, Infiniti, Lexus, even Honda and Toyota (all these cars are CHEAPER), and all offer touch screen capability, and most with DVD based GPS systems. The value on this car is really disapointing. Overall, I am not pleased with the car.

  • Ok car - 2002 Mercedes-Benz S-Class

One of the things i hate about this car is that the engine noise is really loud and frustrating (so is the wind noise). I am both shocked and disapointed at this. acceleration is very slow even on 4th gear.
