This Year's Model Updates:

The TeleAid system is enhanced. Now reservations for travel as well as tickets for sporting and theater events can all be acquired from the considerable comfort of the S-Class' cabin.

Pros:
  • Stylish exterior design, spacious interior, nimble demeanor, powerful engine offerings, high-tech features.
Cons:
  • Complicated COMAND system, some cheap-feeling interior bits, BMW 7 Series is more fun to drive.

One of the things i hate about this car is that the engine noise is really loud and frustrating (so is the wind noise). I am both shocked and disapointed at this. acceleration is very slow even on 4th gear.

The best car I have ever driven and the most fun!

Since purchase it has been a blast to drive. Hopeful the balanced engine translates into long life as that is the only way I am every going to get my money out it! 03+ S55 probably faster due to supercharger, but I could not stand to even think what a supercharger would cost down the line. Really enjoy the machine, great ride/fast ride. I confide I still dont feel like I "fit in" an S55 but hopeful my ego will catch up with the wheels.

I own S500 with Sport Package for about a year now and has been enjoying it every time I get a chance to use it. The car is a leader in its class. Its looks much better than LS430 and obviously much better than 745i. LS430 is just a regular great looking car but S500 with sport is a winner by far (add to it custom mb wheels and its look will knock you down). I have no mechanical problems and performance is superb. Maybe Command is too complicated but S500 catches up with luxury, comfort and performance.

I onwed this car for year and half. Nice performance but it had engine oil leak, driver sit, mirrors, CD changer circuit breaks down, panic button never worked. This is the car made me never get a Mercedes again not for 84 grams.

All the comforts of a Mercedes with the speed of a corvette (and then some). Still having and hard time believing that much power in a Mercedes.

Yes! The S-Class is a very nice car to drive.

  • First and last MBZ - 2002 Mercedes-Benz S-Class

This car has been a huge disappointment. The car has had problems since day one. It continues to have problems on a regular basis. Command Center failures for the first 18 months, radio, phone, airmatic pump, faulty warning indicators, steering three times, battery discharge (4 visits to fix correctly), both front windows quit working, numerous trim and molding problems, numerous electrical problems. This is not what I expected from MBZ. This is clearly the most expensive car and the worst performing car I have ever owned. Dealer also struggles to get repairs right the first time. Seems too sophisticated for their mechanics.

I had nothing but problems from day 1. While it is one of the best looking cars out there, I had component problems regularly. Breaks were replaced twice inside 15,000 miles, computer board replaced, electrical problems, noise and loose parts creating noise in the cabin, bas sensors not allowing to put the car in gear and much more... The car suffers from many problems caused by cheap or poor quality components used in the build. I hope MBZ will fix their problems for the future - for now I can not wait to finish my lease and get into a reliable Lexus !!!
