  • Multiple, Major Problems - 2006 Mercedes-Benz R-Class
    By -

I bought my 2006 R Class brand new in January of 2006. I have enjoyed driving the car and agree it has been the best car that fits my lifestyle, children, and hauling. However, this car has been very expensive to maintain. I have invested nearly $15K in repairs for things that were not covered under warranty. I have had to replace both the front right and left struts for $4K. The SOS system which I never used for $1,700. The seals on the transfer case for $1,100. The Cam Shaft for $5K. The airshock suspension systems for $2,100. The list goes on and on. MB USA has never stepped up to assist in any of these repairs. I doubt that I will ever buy another MB again. Dont love the car that much.

  • Looks great, rides great. - 2006 Mercedes-Benz R-Class

I love this car. I was going to get a C class but the incentives for this car made me take a look at it. This car may no have been successful seller but my wife and I love this car. It looks great and rides great too. The second row is designed to enjoy the ride. The chairs are great and the Panorama view makes it more enjoyable. I bought this preowned and had nothing major except for lightbulb replacement; however, I have read multiple complaints about quality. I just keep my fingers crossed since we are planning to keep this baby for a while.

  • The R-500 (S500 Station wagon) - 2006 Mercedes-Benz R-Class

Just picked the car up this weekend. I LOVE IT! Handles like a dream, the V8 pulls! I am a 740IL owner and I feel the speed on this car. The AWD handling is just great! A lot of people think its a minivan. No, it is not! Its an S500 Station wagon build in the states.

  • The Large MB - 2006 Mercedes-Benz R-Class

I found the auto to be overall very nice, but I think more detail to operating directions would have been better, such as a video tape or a small book like past models had. The explanation of operation needs upgrade.

  • Stylish compromise - 2006 Mercedes-Benz R-Class

This vehicle is the perfect compromise for people like me who want carrying capacity, but dont want an SUV. It drives like a car, which is what I want, but has lots of carrying capacity. It is big, inside and out. What dont I like? I would like to see a split bench seat in the 2d row, to allow 7 passengers. And the navigation system is really user-UNfriendly. You basically have to stop the car to input info or make changes. And why is there no Bluetooth capability?

  • Great Car!!!! - 2006 Mercedes-Benz R-Class
    By -

So far so great. What a Vehicle. The space is positively shocking. 6 full size adults could fit in this car effortlessly. It drives like a sedan not a truck or minivan. The R500 has power to spare. Chock full of amenities. We are very pleased so far. And our dealership was great. We said so long to our over-sized SUV and have not missed it yet. This car will probably change the SUV or crossover market.

  • Design Problem - 2006 Mercedes-Benz R-Class

Excellent ride with better than expected fuel economy. 22Mpg @ 80/85 MPH. Problem is attempting to parallel park. There is no way to see the front end when parking, you just have to guess how close you are to anything that might be in front of you. Difficult to find a vechicle in stock with Parkatronic, unless you want a black interior.

  • Best Yet - 2006 Mercedes-Benz R-Class

Have 5k miles and what a great car. The best Mercedes yet. You cant get into trouble with this all wheel drive car!

  • This car is a nightmare - 2006 Mercedes-Benz R-Class
    By -

The uniqueness of this car is what makes it attractive. The ride and drive characteristics are great. The unusual appearance gets stares & questions. After 1 year and more than 22,000 miles, I feel qualified to relate all that is not right with this car. Multiple visits to more than one dealers service department makes this a thumbs down choice for reliable transportation. Car is in the service dept now for the 9th time and is still there after 13 days (the service manager says they need it for at least another week). The problems are recurring; i.e., transmission shifts hard, repeated warning lights (SRS, low coolant, check engine), body panels ill fitting (wind noise), door hard to close. I cannot recommend

  • Recommendable - 2006 Mercedes-Benz R-Class

I had leased it for 2 years. Overall good performance especially for family. Lots of space. Very quiet ride. Would have been happy with some more juice! Good value compared to the very expensive models. Sleek front look, but not so with the rear look. I guess, you can be the judge. Had some minor issues, no big deal.
