This Year's Model Updates:

The 2002 E-Class soldiers on unchanged, awaiting a redesign that will take place next year.

Pros:
  • Distinctive good looks, lots of standard safety equipment, available all-wheel drive, refined powertrains, rock-solid engineering.
Cons:
  • Stately rather than sporty, gimmicky COMAND system option, no manual transmissions available.

  • 2002 Mercedes E 320 w/Elegance Package - 2002 Mercedes-Benz E-Class

My first ever Mercedes. I am more than pleased with the car. I would caution buyers who are looking at buying a higher mileage car to take the car in for a transmission oil and filter change. Mercedes says it isnt needed, but mine did. Be sure to only use Mercedes-Benz transmission fluid. Older Mercedes cars are good cars for do-it-yourselfers who are willing to do the research to learn how to work on them. Internet makes this easy. Dealership service is expensive, but seldom needed. This is the best engineered car Ive ever driven or owned. The fit and finish is perfect. I was astonished that such an aparently heavy car gets such good gas mileage (22 city / 29 hwy).

This is a wonderful car. A mix between luxury and sport preformance. I would recommend this car to anyone.

  • MB at its best - 2002 Mercedes-Benz E-Class

Long time dream of driving a MB finally came true. Very sophisticated drive, smooth, but not overly soft suspension. 430 engine is excellent. Feels tank- sturdy despite being relatively light- weight. Bought and plan to drive it for 10 or so years, will serve me just fine and will look just as respectable as today - they hold value and prestige very well.

  • The worst benz ever made - 2002 Mercedes-Benz E-Class

This car is the worst peice of junk that Mercedes ever made. So far it only has to things going for it the Mercedes badge and the slick exterior styling. I should have got a lexus I would have paid less and still have luxury.

excellent automobile that is responsive to commands. It handles extremely well and drives like you would expect a Mercedes to drive.

  • E55 - The "Q" Car - 2002 Mercedes-Benz E-Class

Love the power and few know what you are really driving. Needs more leg room for really long drives for those of us over six feet tall (your right foot will cramp). Handling is great, love those "g" forces in a rock solid corner at high speed. It was the first delivered in the SE and I have put 10K miles on it this last year.

  • Comfort and Fun - 2002 Mercedes-Benz E-Class

The exterior is a work of art. Although the 2003 is redesigned, I still think my model looks great due to Mercs styling concept. The interior is conservative and sufficiently comfortable, which is what I expect for such an automobile, but I find every gadget useful and logically in place. However, the cupholders could be better. The ride and acceleration is smooth and quick, and the handling is good for such a heavy and relatively heavy car. Although the Lexus LS430 may be less expensive, it doesnt seem to have a unique character. The styling appears to mimic that of the E- series. In addition, it looks bland.

  • Nothing like it! - 2002 Mercedes-Benz E-Class

I test drove the BMW, Saab, Audi, caddy. The e320 blows them away. Benz is the top dog!
