Overview & Reviews
After an extremely successful introductory year, Mazda's Tribute SUV receives only minor modifications for 2002. DX models get additional standard equipment in the form of alloy wheels, dark-tinted glass and remote keyless entry. After a short production run, however, the DX-V6 model will be discontinued. Midgrade LX models can be ordered with ABS as a stand-alone option (last year it was bundled with side airbags) and with a six-way power driver seat. Both LX and ES models get a new driver lumbar support feature. Side step tubes are a new option on all Tribs, and four new colors debut for 2002.
- Stout V6 power, rugged good looks, roomy cabin, attractive pricing.
- Weak standard four-cylinder engine, no low-range transfer case.

Tesss view - 2002 Mazda Tribute
By tess - August 14 - 7:10 pmExcellent! Room for two car seats. Only small SUV with 1. leather (easier to wipe off childrens mess) 2. sky/sun/moon roof (after a convertable, I really needed to see the sky! it makes watching out door events fun for the kids who like to stand up to see whats going on--& no, the car isnt moving; 3. roomier than the jeep or ford, 4. interior is better looking than the jeep or ford 5. handled a top rack and a bicyle rack, 6.options for the Tribute offer more of what I wanted than either the honda, ford, or jeep. The instrument panel in the jeep is highlighted and better for visual acuity. Over all, Id buy another one, lots of fun and easy to take care of.

Love my Tribute - 2002 Mazda Tribute
By LeeAnn - February 16 - 2:43 amI have had my Tribute for 4 years now and have never had a major problem. It does seem to get good gas mileage as compared to other SUVs Ive had and is a lot of fun to drive. I love the way it looks - classy but kinda sporty. The only thing I dont like is the big bulky obtrusive gear shift handle. It looks clumsy and unusually large - kinda ugly. Otherwise, you cant go wrong with this SUV for the money.

2 years 5 months still very satisfied - 2002 Mazda Tribute
By MatthewM33 - February 15 - 2:00 amI purchased the Tribute in October of 2000. At that time there were barely any other Tributes on the road. Im glad to say that even with more on the road its styling still stands out from all the other SUVs. The value for your dollar is incredible with Tribute. The only negatives I could say about the SUV are in the interior. The shift nob on my ES model blocks the radio volume, the cruise control on the steering wheel does not iluminate at night and the door has no padding to rest your arm.

This one is a real winner! - 2002 Mazda Tribute
By Mort - November 12 - 10:00 amMy ES was my first American Built vehicle after 34 years of owning cars. Never liked American handling and build quality. Well now, I am a happy convert! This is one hell of a well conceived and executed SUV!

Fun to drive - 2002 Mazda Tribute
By Bop - November 12 - 10:00 amThis is a new-owner review. I will write a follow-up later, maybe after 6 months or a year. Initial experience, after extensive test-drive and comparisons, is that the Tribute is the best value for the money out there. And it IS fun to drive. I have no complaints at this time, and can only recommend one.

mazda tribute ES - 2002 Mazda Tribute
By ed villere - July 12 - 10:00 amI love my Tribute. Since I bought my 1st Mazda GLC in 1982, I have owned 12 Mazdas. I have purchased both new and used and at present own the Trbute, 1998 2500 truck, and 1996 MX-6. The only things I would change on my TRibute are the following: add compass and thermometer to rear view mirror, temperature setting automatically on air conditioning, auto door lock when the car put in gear, cd player that has random disc to disc capabilities, Thats about it.

mazda tribute lx - 2002 Mazda Tribute
By Justine Ryan - December 29 - 1:46 pmI decided to buy a 4 wheel drive SUV as my purchase due to the fact that I drive frequently to VT and it is very hilly and snowy in my destination area. I compared many type and model SUVs and opted to purchase a mini SUV. I then selected the Mazda Tribute for its looks, its desent gas mileage for an SUV and its excellent safety record.
