This Year's Model Updates:

The completely redesigned 2009 Mazda 6 boasts upsized dimensions and powertrains that put it on par with segment leaders, yet it largely retains its distinctive fun-to-drive character.

Pros:
  • Roomy cabin, big trunk, muscular performance from V6, smooth automatic transmissions, relatively sporty handling.
Cons:
  • Mediocre fuel economy, some cheap interior materials, not as much "zoom-zoom" as enthusiasts might like.

  • Just Got 1st 2009 Mazda 6 - 2009 Mazda Mazda6

after doing research for countless hours, days, i finally decided to get the 2009 mazda 6 sedan. The car is beautiful, from outside to inside. I have test drove the new Accord, the new Altima, and I had the new 2009 Camry SE. None of them compare to this car. This car looks better then them all and drives better. I am a little skeptical on the reliability issue, since it isnt Toyota, Honda, or Nissan. But regardless, this car is awesome. it has things that only luxury cars like the BMW or Benz has. I believe this car will put Mazda on the same map with the Hondas, Toyotas, and Nissans.

  • Think twice before buying - 2009 Mazda Mazda6

This is my 2nd review. This car continues to give me issues. It took the dealership 5 tries to fix a alignment problem. All four window motors were replaced. I hear a metal clanking noise coming out from under the hood and Mazda says it normal. How can a clanking noise at low speeds me normal. Bluetooth module was replaced. Clicking noise from steering wheel was fixed. Dealer replaced water pump because it making a loud noise when driving. And the list goes on and on. I make it a point to tell everyone that rides the car with me not to buy Mazda. I sure will never buy one again.

  • Whats not to Love - 2009 Mazda Mazda6

Very Stylish best of all the sedans. Very quick acceleration, smooth transmission shifting. Handles curves like a real sports sedan should, yet has a very pleasant ride on the highway and over bumps, the 18” wheels are a plus. The car is roomy with options that you would normally find in cars twice the price. Overall: The best car I drove in its class by alot.

  • Black 2009 Mazda s Grand Touring - 2009 Mazda Mazda6

I test drove the 2008 G35 sedan, the 2008 Saab9-5, the Lincoln MKZ, and the 2009 Nissan Maxima and found the 2009 Mazda6 to be a better value for the money compared to all of them. It really is fun to drive and has a lot of power when you need it. It has great stylish looks inside and out and I like that Mazda took a tested engine (from the CX-9) and didnt make a brand new one. It will be interesting to see how this does now against the Honda Accord and Toyota Camery since its now on par with those cars and might be an even better value.

  • Very good car - 2009 Mazda Mazda6

I have had the car for just about a month. City and highway drive is about 50/50 and have average mileage above 26 mpg (based on my calculation on 3 tank refills). Trunk is the largest in its class but the opening could be bigger. I have two children sit in back seat and seems rear windows are bit high for them to see outside. Ride is quiet and comfortable. The boss sound does its job nicely. The 6 speed manual transmission is very smooth and fun to shift. Blue tooth system is easy to use and very helpful. Blind spot monitor is a good feature but only works when speed is above 20 mph. lots of air bags and traction control and stability control are standard. Just love it.

  • Gem of a Car - 2009 Mazda Mazda6

I drive about 25K miles per year, and I replace my cars every two years with new ones. The last car I loved was my 2002 Passat. I finally found the perfect replacement in the Mazda6. Ride, quietness, interior, and handling are exceptional. The engine is good, though not as eager as the Passat. IMHO the newer Passats just are not as pleasing. Mileage on country back roads is about 30. Oh yes, the interim cars I had were Acura TSX and Saturn Aura. Sorry, just no emotional connection with either. Do try a 6. Price is right, and you will not be disappointed. I have come to like the car more, the more I drive it. The 6 has an attitude I like.

  • Not bad but still short of Camry quality - 2009 Mazda Mazda6
    By -

The all new 6 is a very attractive car and for the price its loaded with features compared to Accord and Camry. It sporty than even the Altima with a smoother nicer ride than that car but not as smooth as Camry. Two issues I had. One after test driving there was a strong burning plastic smell. Not the typical "break in" smell you have with new cars.

  • Very pleased with this car! - 2009 Mazda Mazda6

I had a Speed6 before this. I needed to "grow up", but still wanted to enjoy driving. 6-speed automatic delivers seamless shifts so well I almost dont miss the Speed6s manual. The power seat and tilt/telescope steering wheel it easy to attain a comfortable driving position and still see all the gauges. The "blue halo" effect at night takes a little getting used to. The cabin is tastefully done, and many people have commented on the rich feel Mazda has given this car. Theres plenty of room front and rear, and the fold-down rear seats are convenient. The exterior is very well executed, especially the wheel well bulges at front and rear.

  • Eye catching, Wallet snatching!! - 2009 Mazda Mazda6

I bought this car still under warranty with roughly 35000 Miles on it in 2011, Car was great drove amazing handled great, I am used to SUVs So it was an adjustment with the wanky 4Cyl init, And very light weight which not a fan of, After having it and discovering the cons there are alot of them, With the HID headlights i had one go out. I thought the bulb was dead took it to mazda and well it needs all new wiring 1000 to fix and then the AC tube leaked. Alot of inside noise when driving at high speeds. Brakes suck, picking up speed and down shifting sucks, The radio is worthless!! the frames in the back the plastic around rear windshield is falling off will not stay attached. JUNK!!

  • Brought the First 2009 Mazda 6 - 2009 Mazda Mazda6

I just got the new 2009 Mazda 6 yesterday. it was the first one brought in the whole New York. I got the S Grand Touring, the V6 one. Its a beautiful car. I was about to get the Nissan Altima, but after hours, hours of research, I decided to wait for the Mazda 6, and it was definitely worth the wait and all the time I put into researching cars. I have test driven Accords, Altimas, Camrys, Acuras, and none of them drive better then the 2009 Mazda 6. besides the driving, the car is beautiful from outside to inside. Everyone that is looking for a new car should definitely give the 2009 Mazda 6 a look. I believe this will change the way people look at Mazda cars now.
