This Year's Model Updates:

The completely redesigned 2009 Mazda 6 boasts upsized dimensions and powertrains that put it on par with segment leaders, yet it largely retains its distinctive fun-to-drive character.

Pros:
  • Roomy cabin, big trunk, muscular performance from V6, smooth automatic transmissions, relatively sporty handling.
Cons:
  • Mediocre fuel economy, some cheap interior materials, not as much "zoom-zoom" as enthusiasts might like.

  • Our 3rd Mazda! - 2009 Mazda Mazda6

We bought a 2007 Mazda5, then a 2009 Mazda5 for my wife. Now I wanted to spoil myself, and in addition to a big Ford 3/4 ton diesel pickup to tow our trailer, I wanted something nice, yet not as common and plain vanilla boring like a Honda or Toyota! The 09 Mazda6 is all new and a spectacular car, miles ahead of the competition on style, warranty and features...big value too. The Grand Touring S is near luxury, handles and performs with the class leaders, the fit and finish is world class, the pain job is layers deep and perfect. Incredible long non-copayment warranty is transferable includes a loan car when in for service. The interior is finished like an expensive business class car!

CONS. - The bumpers and the body paint do not match (white). The cheap plastic front air vent/fog light covers. The paint got scratched the day I drove it off the lot. The red radio display reflects off the windshield (very distracting). The windshield wipers are not fast enough in heavy rain and they shake my car when Im stopped. The interior handles for my seat feel like they are going to snap off. The gauges and steering wheel are difficult to line up. Condensation inside headlight covers. Little headroom. Front int. lights too bright. The low beams draw a sharp line in my view. PROS - Good mpg. Roomy trunk. Big back seat. 5 star ratings. Side airbags. Reliable. Unique styling.

  • The Winner is........... The 6 - 2009 Mazda Mazda6

Where to start? I was in the market for either the Audi A4 or Lexus IS250 but landed in a Mazda 6. I drove past a Mazda dealership, the new 6 just stood out. I went in, test drove the car and here I am 3 months later loving my decision! They compare the Mazda 6 to the Accord and Camry (class- wise) however, it does not compare! It is far superior and should instead weight against cars like the A4 and IS250. Sounds crazy I know but I am a total gear head and was dead set on one of the aforementioned cars. The 6 changed my mind! This car is nimble, responsive and fast! It has all of the high end comforts without the high end price tag. I could not be happier with my decision.......!

  • Great Car - 2009 Mazda Mazda6

Had been looking at Avalons, BMWs, Lexus, & Audi. Had pretty much decided on a Lexus ES350. Then on a whim we stopped to look at the Mazda 6 and bought a Grand Touring S with all the bells and whistles. Its as good or better than any of the above named cars for a lot less $$. This is my second Mazda. The first was a 92 MX3 that I commuted in for several years. Put 160+ thousand miles on that one with no complaints.

After looking at the acura tl and honda accord, I couldnt help to compare, for the money you get sooooo much more. Great turning radius. Out of the hole speed. Exterior first glance looks like a lexus. Built with the consumer in mind.

bought this 2009 mazda6 for my wife last year after she put 235k on her 2000 626. she loves it - base model, sound system very good, very good pickup for a 4 cyl w/ 6 spd manual. black interior shows dust and dirt more quickly. you can bury several bodies in the trunk without blinking, and sleep in the back seat with two others. ride is smooth, handling excellent (for its size) and A/C will freeze you in seconds. we had a 1990 protege with 250k, and i got the hand- me-down 2000 6 (averaging 150 miles/daily) and still running like a watch.

  • Nice Ride - 2009 Mazda Mazda6

Ok, so I have been looking for a long while. Had an 04 Accord. The new Accord was the same car I was driving, just ehhh bigger. Camry...drives like an old lady car. Malibu.. bluetooth only comes with that OnStar thing? Nope. The 6 was the best looking of that bunch and seriously fun to drive. Smooth power. At first I was thinking the lane change thing was a gimmick but I actually love it and did from the first time I got on the freeway. What can I say this car fits me perfect, not too flashy and takes care of business.

  • Really enjoying - except.... - 2009 Mazda Mazda6

Drove all the "Camcordias" - new 6 as comfortable as they are -you dont see it "coming and going" - to me thats one of the best features. I got the 4 cyl - my first 4 banger - engine in smooth - but I miss the power and pickup of a 6 cyl. Gas mileage is about 25mpg around town - have 800 miles on the car (10 days driving). Automatic 5 speed is good on upshifts - downshifts are rough when coming around a turn and stepping on gas - it waits too long to shift and kind of bangs into lower gear. The "tiptronic" is lots of fun and works really well (though I find the "pushing forward" for downshift and pulling back for upshift to be backwards) Next time - 6 cyl with manual trans!

They may call it the poor mans Lexus, but this car has it all at a significantly lower price tag. Plenty of cargo space, BSM, Bluetooth, 6CD player, and Zoom Zoom!

I dont think I can say enough good things about the new 6. Style ,comfort, power and reliability all in one package. We looked at the Bmw, Benz, Honda and Toyota. The 6 just is king in all departments. The power from the V6 is seat of the paints fun. The interior makes you feel like royalty. Mazda really out did themselves. This car sells itself. This is our second 6 and if they keep this up it wont be are last.
