Overview & Reviews
The Sorento is an all-new SUV from Kia. Larger and more powerful than the pint-size Sportage (which is expected to return for 2004 after a 2003 hiatus, by the way), the Sorento straddles the emerging middle ground between small SUVs and midsize SUVs. And it does so while offering interested buyers true off-road ability. Key competitors are the Ford Escape, the Honda CR-V, the Jeep Liberty, the Nissan Xterra and the Toyota Highlander.
- Great value, class-leading warranty coverage, long list of standard features, solid construction, true off-road capability.
- Engine needs more power, subpar fuel economy, seat upholstery could stand improvement.

Sorento EX 4x4 - 2003 Kia Sorento
By jcherin - October 13 - 2:00 amLet me get right to the point....wow. After driving all the competing models (Escape, Explorer, Tribute, CR-V, RAV4 [my wife has one], Santa Fe, Pathfinder and others....) I only drove 2 blocks and knew that the Sorento would be what I was going to purchase. Excellent exterior & interior design and quality combined with great ride and comfort (and a good sound system!) and there was no choice!

Great Value - 2003 Kia Sorento
By Spursfan - October 8 - 10:00 amAlot of SUV for the money. I agree with the main review that it could use a bit more punch at take off, but once you are rolling, you better watch your speed.

Best inclass - 2003 Kia Sorento
By statefan - September 26 - 10:00 amI was downsizing from an older Suburban and looked at all of the mid- size SUVs. Once I saw and drove the Sorento there was no question what to buy. The quality, appearance and options, regardless of the cost, was comparable or better than all of the others. When you consider the price (5K to 8K lower) and add in the warranty it becomes a no brainer. You just have to compare for yourself. I would recommend the luxury package too. It is worth the money. To get a better quality mid-size SUV you have to go the Acura / Lexus lines for about twice the money.

This is a great car!!!!! - 2003 Kia Sorento
By Pzukes - August 31 - 2:00 amI got my Sorento EX 4WD luxery package retailing for just under $28,500 about a month ago. This car is an excellent vehicle. I had no problem paying this price because i have heard nothing but good news about this car. Kia - you have done a great job in designing and building a great vehicle. Now just put some effort in building your other cars better. I love my Sorento. GREAT JOB KIA!!!

awesome baby - 2003 Kia Sorento
By hany - August 31 - 2:00 amIts been one week since I purchased my sorento, so far Im very pleased with everything. This vehicle is handsome, powerful, well made, and cheapest midsize suv. With comparable features, sorento is by far cheaper than ford explorer, gmc envoy, and grand cherokee. As far as build quality is concern, this vehicle is better detail than honda crv or honda accord that I owned. Basically, I bought sorento ex with no option, and you dont need options, everything comes standard, including sunroof. This is truely the most beautiful car I ever owned.

5,000 Miles and Counting... - 2003 Kia Sorento
By BigSKyMan - July 19 - 2:00 amAt first glance, there seems to be a ton of SUVs available, but when it comes down to finding a true, comfortable, rugged, REAL 4x4, there are very few. If youre looking for one with all the features of the KIA Sorento, youd be hard pressed to find one for under $35,000, let alone for the $25,000 I got my 4x4 Sorento EX for. I drive a lot on and off road and I am completely pleased with my KIA thus far. The only features I wish I had were a DVD player for the kids and an in-dash Navigation system for me.
