This Year's Model Updates:

The Amanti is an all-new full-size sedan from Kia geared to compete head-on with the likes of Toyota's Avalon and the Buick LeSabre.

Pros:
  • Class-leading amenities, spacious interior, unique exterior styling.
Cons:
  • Some may find the exterior styling odd, 195 horsepower is not much in this class.

  • My new Amanti - 2004 Kia Amanti

I wasnt immidiately considering the Amanti as my next car at first. But then I looked inside the car, and decided right there. The Amantis interior would look right at home in any luxury sedan, and here it was in a $25,000 KIA! Even though the rest of the car wasnt quite as impressive the ride was comfortable, but acceleration and handling were somewhat disappointing) but the interior made me go for it. I have owned the car for about a month now, and have about 1,000 miles on it, and nothing has gone wrong yet. And if it does, KIA will pay for it, so Im not worried.

  • Kias in Trouble - 2004 Kia Amanti

I looked at the first one to arrive in Omaha. Looks like very limited numbers will be getting to the dealers this year, expect to pay window or above. Major mistake in my opinion, as I would have purchased if they were pricing like their sister car, the XL350. As it is, more expensive than a similiar Buick or the Hundia XL 350, close to an Avalon in actual exit the door price. A nice car, very roomy, but price and quanity are going to make this a hard one to buy.

This attractive automobile was a present. It drives smoothly and can handle curves. The seats are comfortable and recline to accomodate everyones needs. This car accomodates single drivers or MOMs with kids. The The stereo system is awesome. The car is very detailed. You must spend hours driving it to experience its full potential. The instruction manual is very long but anyone with basic knowlege can figure it out. Theres lots of extra ammenities that one may never use but its nice to have them if you desire.

  • After Inspection - 2004 Kia Amanti

Okay, I had the Amanti go through a full used car inspection at the Kia dealership. Cost $104.00. Three items needed attention - Left and Right valve cover gaskets need replacing, and the rear main seal needs replacing. Total cost for repairs by the dealership will be $1010.00. Do I still love the car - Yes! The leak must be a very small one because you cannot tell it has a leak by driving it and have not noticed oil leaking. Will I get it fixed - Yes when income taxes come in next year. Can it wait til then - they said it could as long as I keep an eye on the oil level. I paid $5000.00 for the car and NADA shows its value a little over $6000.00 so with the repair it will meet value.

  • Retro Euro-Styling meets American Ride - 2004 Kia Amanti
    By -

This is a cool looking car -- kindo f reminding me of a mongrel mix between a Mercedees a Bently and something coming out of (former) Communist East Germany. Sitting in the interior is like time travel to 1961 (at least as far as the dash is concerned). The drive is soft, like a mushy American ca. Trunk space and roomy interior make this a comfortable ride for passengers. Performance is what youd expect for a GM-type of mid-range car from the early 1980s -- you dont want to do any extreme maneuvers.

  • Good deal in the long run - 2004 Kia Amanti

I have owned my Amanti for less than one year and less than 2k miles. But so far the car has surpassed my expectations. This might be because I understand it is not of Lexus/Infinity level. Even Kia admits this. However it does rival my previous 02 Lincoln Town Car. I purchased this car because I was looking for a long term car to drive for many years. After researching Consumer Reports I found newer Kia/Hyundia models to be comparable, if not more reliable than domestic brands (still no threat to to Japan). Kias worst flaw is its resale value, thats why I would not recommend one if you plan to sell it in 1-3 yrs. But w/ a long warranty and near-luxury design and standard options, Im more than happy.

  • Excellent luxury Kia - 2004 Kia Amanti

I spent a week driving it as a rental, in which time it has completely rebuilt my image of Kia. The build quality was far above what I expected and I got numerous looks while driving the car. I disregarded the break in period; the car had 50 miles on it; as a result sometimes the engine smelt like it was burning - not good.

  • Hating my gas Milage - 2004 Kia Amanti
    By -

Overall I love my new 2004 Amanti. I love everything about it. All but my gas mileage that is. I am continually going down in gas mileage. All the way from 19.4 when I bought it (33 Miles) down to 15.2 (2200 Miles). My dealer states it will get better but gets worse every day that I drive it. Would have purchased an SUV for this mileage I am getting.

I bought my Amanti in May 2004. I am very satisfied with everything except the noise generated underneath the car on city streets. It could be sound insulated better to aleveate this noise distraction. It is very distracting. However, on the highway, it is very quite. In fact it is one of the quietest cars Ive ever driven on good roads. The wind noise is almost non-existance. The fit & finish is excellent. The gas mileage is a decent 25.5 MPG on the highway. The seats, both front & rear are very comfortable. It could use a little more horsepower but I highly recommend this vehicle. It is an excellent value for your dollar.

  • Would still buy it again - 2004 Kia Amanti
    By -

Purchased March 1, 04. Since then I have had to return to the dealer to have the right front strut tightened, new carrier bearing, new transmission, new radio, to have the computer reset, and to pick up a new trunk light bulb. I currently have strut collers and bushings on order. But, with all this, the car handles as good as any Ive had, and this is #79. This car will get you looks, nice smiles and not once has anyone said anything bad after seeing everything it offers. Got $25,000? Offer the dealer $23,000 and drive it home. Power everything, great radio, leather, dual heat/air-power outside mirrors that tilt down in reverse. What else could you want?
