Overview & Reviews
Jeep's Patriot compact crossover SUV enters its second year with a handful of minor changes, including standard air-conditioning, AutoStick manual shifting added to the continuously variable transmission (CVT), reshuffled package content and a few chrome bits to dress up the interior. Limited models can also be equipped with an optional navigation system.
- Affordable pricing, lots of headroom, Jeep styling, above-average off-road ability.
- Performance-robbing CVT, some mediocre interior materials, minimal cargo capacity.

A Ray of Sun - 2008 Jeep Patriot
By Mr Rod - June 13 - 7:30 amI have only had My Patriot for 2 days now, but I must say I love it. I traded in a 02 Maxima. I has excellent room for me and 3 other adults has plenty power and is great on gas. I love the Orange Burst Pearl color, very unique for a Jeep!! I feel larger than it really is, as I look over the long hood. The handling is also great this thing turns on a dime! It also has a forgiving ride that doesnt hurt my liver as i hit imperfections on the horrible roads in Louisiana! Jeep you created a lovely SUV for the masses!!

Patriot Update Bought a Second one... - 2008 Jeep Patriot
By NewJeepGirl - June 2 - 10:50 amWeve had 4 winter storms to date. Last storm dumped 10 inches. Drove home with no problems-slight slip in the intersections, but even our 97 Expedition slipped in that too. Very capable in the snow! Used 4WD lock to get in the driveway-works great! My husband loves mine so much, we just got him one yesterday-stripper for $17K-how can you beat that for the milage and 4WD? Even the vinyl seats dont feel cheap-looks like leather. Still has side impact airbags, ABS, electronic stablility control, tire pressure alarm light and outside temp guage. A lot of bang for the buck- plus its a nice Marine blue-very sharp! Looking forward to better milage. Trading 96 RAV 4 thats only getting 20MPG.

Awesome - 2008 Jeep Patriot
By Angela - April 29 - 11:16 amIve recently purchased the new 2008 Jeep Patriot Sport 4x2 (2.0 L Engine 6SPD), and I have no regrets! Its built to take 87 Octane gas, which is great by the way especially in our current economic status, and it is fast for a 2.0 liter! My Patriot comes with 158 HP and I cant wait to add an intake and performance chip. It handles well and surprisingly superior on curves. Im an SUV person and all the previous SUVs Ive had have been gas consuming and poor handlers. The Jeep Patriot is stable enough with a wonderful ground clearance. Its beautiful and resembles the 90s top selling Jeep Grand Cherokee body style, but it will definitely turn heads.

I heart my Jeep! - 2008 Jeep Patriot
By mkinthecity - April 15 - 8:20 amWith the continual climb in gasoline prices & my need for a 4WD vehicle for the wintry conditions of New England, I needed a rugged yes stylish car to get me to & fro work & play safely. After searching the market for a compact SUV, I stumbled upon the Patriot. I couldnt be happier that I did! The price was right and the design is classic Jeep through and through. The heated leather seats, moon roof, and standard Sirius Radio on the Limited Edition, it was love at first test drive! Easy to maneuver around town and in tight parking spaces, but surprisingly roomy on the inside... couldnt ask for a better combination. A definitive mix of spunk and sexy...WARNING: Cute-utes beware...

Great SUV - 2008 Jeep Patriot
By Va-Jeeper - January 11 - 9:26 amTest drove Hyundai Santa Fe, Chevy equinox, Ford escape, Toyota 4runner and fj, Mercury mariner, Mazda tribute and of course the Jeep patriot. Jeep Patriot was easy to drive and the seats are comfortable. It is also fun to drive. Of all I test drove the Jeep Patriot was the best of the bunch and at a good price. Dont forget the great gas mileage. It is no Jeep Commander or Ford Explorer but for a small SUV it is great. It seems bigger than what it is when driving it. Does not feel like a small puddle jumper. When I bought it home and my wife drove it, she wanted me to buy her one, thats how good it is.

Very Impressive SUV - 2008 Jeep Patriot
By teebyrd86 - October 24 - 11:10 amI traded in my 05 Toyota Corolla S for my new 08 Patriot with upgraded rims, tinted windows, keyless ect. (everything the limited has but those cheap looking leather seats!) I do miss things about my Toyota but the Patriot suites me a lot more. It has plenty of room for my frame (64) and it very comfortable. The best thing about my Patriot was the price. I totally recommend this vehicle to anyone who wants a nice SUV at a great price. Going from a Toyota to a Jeep is a big difference but I am glad I made the transition back to Jeep (my first car was a Wrangler!) You definitely get more for money with Jeep.

Best kept secret out there for an SUV - 2008 Jeep Patriot
By jim wilson - October 21 - 4:36 pmEveryone is abandoning SUVs because of the bad MPG and costs overall to purchase. So, I figured I would see if there was a "steal" out there in the mass exodus/hype to leave SUVs. And, I found one. I got my Patriot (a complete base model that now in 2008 at least has AC standard) for $12,400 after rebates, incentives and military discount. Just drove it 220 miles across parts of Carolina and got 33 MPG highway going 65 mph. Its manual transmission, which is fine with me. Windows, locks are manual -- again, OK with me. The best thing is the larger engine (4.2) gets better MPG with manual transmission The only complaint is that options add up FAST, which is why I kept it basic.

2008 Patriot 4x4 - 2008 Jeep Patriot
By ASG - September 22 - 1:16 amI commute 100 miles a day round trip and it doesnt beat you up. traded in the Subaru outback, and am very pleased with MPG (26-28) compared to sticker rating. I like the non carpet in the back, we have 2 large dogs. Visibility is great compared to other models. Tested out the 4x4 today and worked fine in the snow/ice. When my other SUV gets retired soon, I plan on purchasing another patriot (4x2).

better than rav-4 & crv - 2008 Jeep Patriot
By Pam in LA - August 21 - 5:33 amMy first time writing a review, but had to let everyone know how well the Jeep Patriot drives. I had mine almost two years and havent had one issue to repair or replace. Love the plastic interior as I have two big dogs. Seats are comfortable and easily cleaned. The performance is great. I do a lot of city driving and still average 24 mpg. I couldnt beat the price of less than $13,000! Well done Jeep. With the money I saved not buying a Rav-4 or CRV, I had a great cross country trip in my Patriot.

Nice Vehicle for the $! - 2008 Jeep Patriot
By Charlie - July 27 - 6:30 pmPurchased approximately 1 month ago. Driven mostly in suburbs to and from work. Smooth, comfortable and quiet ride on freeway driving. Like the classic Jeep style (tired of the rolling egg look). Like this better than the Honda CR-V traded in.
