You get what you pay for - 2006 Jeep Commander
By LD - January 31 - 6:16 amI was looking for an inexpensive truck to fit my family of 6. I found it in the Jeep Commander. However after having it for 3 months I realized I am spending a fortune in gas. My fathers 1974 Cadillac got the same 12 miles per gallon as my 2006 Commander. Its hard to believe that in this day and age Jeep cant produce a 6 cylinder engine that gets better than 12 miles per gallon. In addition, after the whole family gets in it becomes very tight fitting. No more room for any extras. Oh, and if you are going to buy the Commander make sure you have really skinny arms or you wont be able to reach down between the driver seat and the door to adjust your seating. You get what you pay for.

By hartnv - November 20 - 7:48 pmAwful -- I have no idea how there are reviews on here with 4-5 stars, but when you read the review it is cluttered with problems. This make and model has substantial electrical issues. It appears many made have severe danger issues as the one I own has. It stalls while driving, hesitates and accelerates randomly, and periodically wont start. Dealerships and independent mechanics do not know what is wrong or why these issues exist. Please Google the problems and complaints.

Very Disappointing - 2006 Jeep Commander
By Edward Smith - October 11 - 1:00 pmWe had an ongoing issue with the engine stalling out. All 4 brake routers warped in the first 18 months. Needed a full brake job with 14,000 miles on it. Nothing was covered. Many electronic items have quirks; seat memory, outside temp, and others. Have replaced the windshield 3 times in 26 months for cracks from road stones. It seems to catch them all.

By The P family - September 18 - 2:26 amI did buy my Jeep Commander used, I should have looked it up first i bought in 2007 and it had 10,000 miles. Of course the salesman "fibbed" and of course i bought the vehicle. REGRET! since i had bought it in October of 07 it has been in the shop over 25 times! seat belt problems, slow pickup, wind leaks you name it. Though i never have had as bad of problems as the others i still definitely regret this purchase! I will always research a vehicle first from now on. The body style is awesome and i have never been a red fan until i saw the Inferno and red rock reds they are gorgeous, But, When you think Jeep you think dependable, durable and long lasting this jeep is none of the above!

Lets start with interior there is no cargo room, you cant see anything out of the rear window, when you are at a traffic light you almost have to lay your chin on the dash to see the light, it sounds like the front end is falling out on every bump. Now to the milage WOW I get better mileage in my 1978 big block motorhome pulling a trailer than I do in this jeep just driving around town ! I put a K and N filter in and it didnt help at all. average city is 7-9 hiway is 13-14.5

Cant get right - 2006 Jeep Commander
By Isaac - October 18 - 11:50 amWife and I traded in my Rodeo after being run off the road by the Police during a snow storm. Vehicle handled great but the whistling noise cam in about 2mts after purchased. The dealer fixed the problem. 3mts back for the same problem. 3mts later same problem, dealer said it was the windshield wipers being too light, so I changed to duel wipers and it reduced the noise but it is still there. Truck wouldnt start wife took to dealer, said it was the battery while there they found it had a leaking exhaust manifold gasket, dealer wanted $800 to fix. Can be fixed for less and vehicle is in the shop as I type. Vehicle does have elect issues with tire gage. Stitching loose in rear seat.

Disappointed - 2006 Jeep Commander
By R C Mangham - August 11 - 2:03 pmVery poor gas mileage in town, only about 13, freeway about 19. Very comfortable and powerful with V-8. It is too big. We traded in a 03 Cherokee and would much rather have the Cherokee.

Side airbags may not deploy during roll - 2006 Jeep Commander
By Rubino - March 23 - 1:20 pmIve been a Jeep owner since 1985. Ive loved and trusted them until Jan 2007 when I was sideswiped by a van while traveling 35-40pph on the highway. As the Commander spun, rolled, and violently hit the pavement, the driver seat and the top of the pax seat had no protection from the outter elements. Neither side airbag deployed. It was a horrifying incident which totalled the Jeep. The only life saver safety item that did its job properly was the seat belt. Had I not been wearing the federally mandated basic seat belt I would be dead.

Too many problems - 2006 Jeep Commander
By R Anderson - December 24 - 11:16 amI bought this vehicle for its nice size (no to big, no to small) for that it is great, interior is great and very functional for a small family. My problems are mechanical. We have had to replace the main "computer" which was covered by the warranty. Next it was misfiring, they replaced a spark plug but said that we needed to get the fuel injectors cleaned with only 15,000 miles ($300). I had a MB ML500 with 59000 miles, never had to get the fuel injectors cleaned!!!! The wheel well plastic is really loose and the dealership said "we have new ones that are worse then that". Excellent family vehicle, poor quality and even worse customer service, I have reported Jeep but no response from dealer.
