Third Jeep - 2006 Jeep Commander
By sunman168 - January 28 - 11:20 amThe Jeep Commander is my third Jeep SUV. I started with the boxy Cherokee followed by a Grand Cherokee and now the Commander. The styling of the Commander reminds me of my first Cherokee which is simple yet very retro. The performance has been great, the ride is excellent, and the features inside are very user friendly. I went with the 6 cylinder to help me with the gas mileage and it is just enough power to haul my family around.

By rickyrick - January 6 - 1:30 pmWife purchased the base model with fully loaded options (4.7 V-8). Firm ride, excellent turning radius, not your typical "hulking SUV" but does have the hulking power. Boxy type looks (offspring to the Land Rover & Hummer!). Quietest interior of all the other so called competitors we test drove, clean interior lines, skylights give that roomy feeling throughout cabin, leather, great stereo sound ... third row seat? Now thats up for debate! Heated front row seats. So far there are lots of aftermarket parts (cosmetic & engine) available if you want to go that route. Our first SUV and very impressed so far!

2006 65th anniversary model - 2006 Jeep Commander
By ol snowtires - December 19 - 8:40 pmGreat Jeep. I have a little over 26,000 miles on it. It came with a 6cd changer that plays mp3s. Stereo system sounds great. 3rd row seating is a little small, probably best suited for kids. Be aware that the maintenance services are expensive. That comes with any 4wd system I suppose. Never had it stall on me, however, it felt like it wanted to a few times. Had to replace the windshield because a rock hit it. The windshield is very upright. I drove it from Pennsylvania to El Paso, TX with zero problems. Gas mileage could be better. With everything considered, I am very happy with the purchase. Great ride, roomy, and looks good. Would recommend to others.

Looks Good - 2006 Jeep Commander
By KH 730 - November 29 - 6:23 pmWe purchased our 2006 Commander used with only 5,000 miles on it. The car is great looking with an awesome interior design. The sound system is pretty good and the comfort of the car is out of this world. This car handles extremely well in snow. The car is solid & feels very safe. Driving is fun if you can look past the awful gas mileage, this car is a guzzler. We get about 12.5 mpg city and about 18 highway, not the best. The car stalled a few times but we arent sure what caused it. During the extremely cold winter the car would cough when started (not garaged). The passenger side window is possessed but I guess its a known computer error that hasnt been figured out yet.

By Jonathan - November 18 - 4:53 amI love it. Looked long and hard for a safe vehicle, 4x4 with 5 star crash ratings. Best ride, quality, look and you cant beat the price. The 5 speed is wonderful. I did splurge for the 7yr/100,000 mile warranty via Chrysler. As big as a Durango, a whole lot safer! The 4.7 v8 has enough pick up and pull also.

A Good Start - 2006 Jeep Commander
By scla - October 15 - 8:36 pmTraded a Lexus LX470 for Commander Limited with 5.7 Hemi. Have been on two road trips totaling over 2000 miles. Has performed without a flaw. Ride is better than Lexus. Appointments are inferior especially the navigation system. Commander has blind spots on both sides when driving. Rear seat positioning is unique and comfortable especially for taller people. The Commander in black with chrome wheels is an eye catcher. Have had no negative comments except most think it is a new Hummer H3. I suggest getting the Hemi for both performance and fuel economy. You will feel the shift between four to eight cylinders on highway driving but it is minimal.

Gas guzzler - 2006 Jeep Commander
By michelle - October 9 - 3:30 pmI have always driven Expeditions so I was a bit leary about buying this Commander. At first I enjoyed it, just because it was shiney and had the new car smell (you know the puppy smell syndrome) but then I began to realize just how much of a gas guzzler it was and how little power it had. I quickly became very nostalgic for the great get up and go my Expeditions had. I would only recommend this car as a weekend run a round vehicle, not a vehicle for everyday use-unless your last name is Halliburton.

Not bad - 2006 Jeep Commander
By Mary M - September 28 - 9:30 pmI traded in my 2001 Trooper with 156,000 miles for this brand new Commander. Fuel tank is a big disappointment - only 17.2 gallons. However, I have increased my highway mileage to an average of 20.6 MPG by adding in a bottle of gas treatment or fuel injector cleaner with every other tankful. City driving is approx 16.5 MPG. I have a possessed passenger window. Not thrilled about gas cap - anyone can open it, no safety lock. Not much cargo room (Trooper held a sheet of plywood with ease) and the loss of 3"-4" because of 3rd row seat now folding level with tailgate. Molding not glued to back door frame. Replaced windshield which also took part of factory molding with it!

By KareBear0972 - September 26 - 4:33 pmI Luv my commander! I have owned jeeps pretty much all my life but this car is Awesome. Fast pick up, nice off roading. Great in snow. Gas is not great (But Im one of those lead foot people ) but what do you expect in a SUV? :) Only in a Jeep.
