Overview & Reviews
Jaguar introduced its youth-oriented X-Type last year, so 2003 holds little changes for the baby Jag. There's a slight reduction in the price of the base model, and electrochromic mirrors are standard on all trim levels. Cars equipped with the 3.0-liter mill now get 17-inch wheels and a CD player as standard equipment.
- Reasonable base pricing, sporty handling, all-wheel drive, currently the only Jaguar available with a manual transmission.
- Spartan interior design, some less-than-prestigious Ford-themed switchgear and exterior styling cues, price goes up with options faster than you can say "Ford Mondeo."

"Experts"??? - 2003 Jaguar X-Type
By HistoryDocBob - July 5 - 4:43 pmI was an MG driver for many years and have always enjoyed the "British" feel for a car. Yes, the X-type is not a standard Jag, but with gas at $4, who would want one? This car is perfect for what we all do -- drive to work, the Metro or run a few errands. I find nothing "cheap" about the interior; the camel interior goes beautifully with the British racing green exterior. Yes, I cant get to 60 mph in 5.5 seconds, but Ford (which has a long tradition in building British cars) has put together just the right package of performance, appearance and creature comforts to make this car worth every dime. Youd be a fool to waste your money on a far more expensive German or high-end Japanese car.

x-type heaven - 2003 Jaguar X-Type
By cesar47 - July 5 - 10:00 ami purchased this vehicle as a loaner car from the dealer. it was one of the early jags made. at first, there were some problems all covered under warranty. heater went out, noise from the drivertrain, malfunction fuel sender unit causing a gas leak, all repaired at my local dealer that provided a free loaner car. twice i was given a s-type. since february 02 i have had no problems. the dealer even gave me 100,000 mile/ 6 year warranty. i am not worried about any future problems. i would recommend this car.

Terrific Vehicle - Highly Recommended - 2003 Jaguar X-Type
By Sam - June 25 - 7:43 amBought this after evaluating the competition. Best price compared to options offered as well as stylish interior and exterior. Wish I had gotten the 3.0, but will get that next. Highly recommended as it is powerful, well built (only in the dealership for no-charge oil changes), gets looks, and is well-priced.

First car in years that I really like! - 2003 Jaguar X-Type
By M Furst - April 11 - 10:00 amThis is the first car in years that Ive really liked. Particularly the chassis, a part of the car that Ive never before paid much attention to, provides a solidity that makes this car a joy - on the highway where Ive cruised at 185 km/hour (115 mph) (and dont ask where) and on windy mountain roads (where I went much slower).

I Do Love This Ride - 2003 Jaguar X-Type
By yachtboy - February 28 - 10:00 amI have nothing but good things to say about my Jag. Its a 2.5 w/ a 5 speed and it puts the fun back in driving. Ive had a few problems with it, but the dealer has never let me down by providing a loaner while my car is serviced. Even though its the least expensive Jag, it impresses others when you say you have a Jag. I also noticed that garages treat you differently when you pull in and bring yu your car. Its not the price of the car, but the image it conveys

My Baby Jag - 2003 Jaguar X-Type
By AL - February 6 - 4:30 pmI have had mine for almost a year now with no problems. The car handles like no other I have ever owned, it has good power, and it turns heads like no car I have ever owned, and this thing will really take a corner at any speed, no torque steer, no drift, a joy to drive.
