Overview & Reviews
Hyundai shuffles the Sonata's trim levels for the second year in a row, making the four-cylinder engine standard on all and the V6 optional across the board. The sporty Sonata SE gains performance tires, a rear spoiler and a power driver seat, while the upscale Limited receives an Infinity stereo as standard.
- Comfortable ride, quality interior materials, roomy backseat and trunk, standard stability control, lengthy warranty, impressive value.
- Subpar fuel economy with the V6, numb-feeling steering, automatic transmission fussy in manual mode.

Great Mix of Value, Quality and Styling - 2008 Hyundai Sonata
By Chuck in VA - March 17 - 8:14 amThe Sonata was not on my original list of cars - I was looking at a Civic hybrid or Accord. But, the fuel mileage, styling and warranty made me take a closer look. The final factor was a $3,000 rebate. I saved several thousand dollars over what I thought Id have to spend to get a high quality, stylish sedan. Having owned it for a full year now, I can honestly say I am 100% satisfied with the car - mileage in the 27-28 range, zero service or mechanical issuesi. I/m really glad I chose the Hyundai. Cant wait to trade it up for a new Genisis in a couple of years!

2008 Sonata GSL V6 3.3L - 2008 Hyundai Sonata
By Genetyper - March 15 - 3:58 pmI bought this car with 30k miles on it and have driven it about 2k miles. I love this car. Getting onto the highway is stress-free because this car can "get-up-and-go" when you put your foot into it. Its got some "nut" which I like in a car. Its quiet and smooth. I like the sunroof and the ample room of the interior. Its comfortable and an ease to drive. Gas mileage is about 31 highway (or more) and 19 town. I cant speak for long term reliability but it purrs like a kitten and is nearly soundless at idle, no engine noises or "clickings". Performance for a mid- sized 4 door family car like this is not common.

My "Korean Kamry" - 2008 Hyundai Sonata
By MY "KOREAN KAMRY" - February 23 - 10:39 pmI purchased this car because I was looking for an affordable ride which would offer economy, reliability and still offer that "high class" I used to get while driving my Lexus. I found all that plus more in my base 2008 Sonata GLS. It comes standard with all of the safety features that come as options in a Camry XLE

Hyundai has come a loooong way - 2008 Hyundai Sonata
By racerjae - December 30 - 3:23 amMy first car I drove was a Hyundai Excel. What a nightmare driving that thing! In less than 20 years, Hyundai is truly a quality manufacturer, and it shows in their cars such as the Sonata. The Sonata is comparable to the Toyota Camry and Honda Accord, but costs thousands less. Plus you get the best warranty out there. Its truly a best buy in my opinion. Every time I drive it, I almost forget that Im driving a Hyundai. It has a smooth supple ride, acceleration is sufficient (although the engine buzzes a bit at higher RPMs), it handles and brakes well, and its quiet inside. It can easily seat five adults, and the trunk is huge. Enough said.

Great Value - 2008 Hyundai Sonata
By JSD - December 16 - 5:23 pmLike many other posters, for a long time I wouldnt even have considered owning a Hyundai. However, my fiance has had two and had great experiences with both, so I gave them a shot. This car is wonderful. Not only does it perform as well as the big competitors from Honda and Toyota, but it does so at a much lower price. This car has been everything I expected and more. Hyundai cannot be beat for reliability, quality, and value.

I love my car! - 2008 Hyundai Sonata
By Mary - December 5 - 4:07 pmI love this car. It is reliable and I feel safe in it. I have the peace of mind of the 10 year bumper to bumper warranty. I take my car on trips and enjoy driving - something I never really did before, and the stability control is a God-send when driving in the winter.

Great Car - 2008 Hyundai Sonata
By VLH - November 20 - 10:08 amFirst new (used) car I ever had. I travel 28 mi a day to/from work and have only used 1/2 tank of gas! Just sold a loaded Lincoln and dont miss the luxuries as the Sonata has the most important features for pleasure, elect.windows, and cd/radio.comfortable, roomy interior, sleek looks, less elect.gadgets to worry about and cont.warranty bumper to bumper. Wanted a Camry, got an equal and saved a lot!

Hyundai Convert - 2008 Hyundai Sonata
By Corey Glass - November 2 - 4:14 amFor many years I wouldnt consider purchasing a Hyundai because they were Korean with no reputation other than lacking style quality and absolutely no resale value. In the last couple years Hyundai was finding its way onto top 10 lists. The Sonata is a pleasure to drive, quiet, safe and very attractive.
