Overview & Reviews
Hyundai shuffles the Sonata's trim levels for the second year in a row, making the four-cylinder engine standard on all and the V6 optional across the board. The sporty Sonata SE gains performance tires, a rear spoiler and a power driver seat, while the upscale Limited receives an Infinity stereo as standard.
- Comfortable ride, quality interior materials, roomy backseat and trunk, standard stability control, lengthy warranty, impressive value.
- Subpar fuel economy with the V6, numb-feeling steering, automatic transmission fussy in manual mode.

Buy one youll be glad you did. - 2008 Hyundai Sonata
By Dan - April 4 - 5:46 pmFirst thing you need to do is spray the seats with stain guard the material on the seats is awfully easy to stain. The car is great rides and drives better then Camry or anything else in its class with a very quick engine, no motor noise comfort is stellar it is very roomy for the size. I just can cant find anything to complain about. It is a great little car and 32 mph mixed driving is not bad. Do that in a Camry I dont think you can and gas will get to about 4.00 a gallon just wait and see. The car is fast no motor noise cant be beat for the money.

Happy owner of used 08 GLS - 2008 Hyundai Sonata
By happy owner - March 4 - 1:36 amBought my wife this car used a year ago for an amazing price ($13K w/ 13K miles and sunroof). Both of us love it and always choose it over my Frontier unless we need to haul something. Weve gotten 29.9 mpg overall (my wife was getting 32 mpg overall for a while when commuting to work) and dont find the power lacking at all. It is a little asthmatic when loaded up with four pax and going up mountains but works fine for everyday commuting. Trunk is spacious and easily holds both our golf push carts and both sets of clubs. Fit and finish is great and havent had a single maintenance issue yet (though we drive conservatively to maximize mpg). Gotten up to 33-35 mpg on long trips.

Fantastic Drive - 2008 Hyundai Sonata
By linda - February 9 - 11:30 amI bought this car 2 years ago in December. It is a manual 5 speed and I absolutely love the way it drives. It handles the road, curves and bumps wonderfully. The seats are very comfortable. The mileage is super with getting 32 in city and close to 38 on hw.

What a Pleasant Surprise - 2008 Hyundai Sonata
By Markd - July 25 - 8:30 pmHyundai had a fire sale and I purchased the Sonata Limited with the I4 and no sunroof for $17,465.00. Wonderful car much to like. Great comfort, great price, great warranty, and you owe it to yourself to take advantage of the sale.

Perfect car! - 2008 Hyundai Sonata
By mfunk - June 21 - 10:31 amAfter researching and test driving Honda Accords, Toyota Camrys, and finally the Sonata Limited, it was clear that for the money, I was able to get luxury with the Sonata that I wouldnt get with other 2. We have always driven Hondas (7 to date) and my husband was skeptical about going with a Sonata. However, I made the decision to get the Sonata and once the dealer agreed to my terms.....no $$ down, zero percent interest, and payments under $300 for the Limited, its was a done deal. I love driving the car and its super comfortable on road trips. The only negative to say is that the side door molding loosened and had to be replaced and the drivers side visor has had to be replaced.

25000 miles no problems - 2008 Hyundai Sonata
By 25000 miles - May 23 - 5:17 pmOne year plus 25000 miles totally problem free. I usually keep a car about 1 year but this is my first keeper. Still love it and still get a lot oo enjoyment driving it. Only has had routine oil changes and tire rotation and still looks and drives like the day I bought it. Looked at Totota Mazda Nisson and made the right choice.

Eye Opening Car - 2008 Hyundai Sonata
By SmilinSquid - May 13 - 11:16 pmI recently bought a 2007 Audi A4 for 30K dollars. Nice car and I love it. Went to the Hyundai dealer recently and bought a 2008 Limited Sonata for my recently widowed mother. WOW! The Sonata is a VERY nice vehicle! The fit and finish is impeccable, and the V6 has plenty of pep. The exterior lines and dual exhausts are quite attractive. The 5 year warranty and standard safety features, along with Hyundais vastly improved record for quality (JD Power reports) nearly sold the vehicle by themselves. Having driven it, I cant help but think I overpaid for my Audi! The leather seats, quality components and user- friendly controls are nearly on par with my A4. Hyundai hit this one out of the park!

Duh! - 2008 Hyundai Sonata
By VolsFan - May 3 - 1:41 pmI replaced a 2003 Toyota Avalon XLS with the 2008 Sonata Limited V6 and LOVE IT! Ive had it about 16 months now and am 100% satisfied. I, like others, was a little cautious of buying a Hyundai but have zero regrets. I really wanted a Prius when I started looking but the price was in the stratosphere and figured it would take 5+ years to make up the difference in gas. I looked at the Avalons and Camrys but just couldnt justify the HUGE price difference. The interior design and quality is not on par with the Avalon, but is nearly as good as the Camry. It was all the bundled features: V6, traction and stability control, safety features, Infinity audio, and creature comforts that sold me.

Car Has Earned High Ratings - 2008 Hyundai Sonata
By No Longer Sceptical - May 1 - 6:23 pmHave learned to trust automobile ratings by Consumer Reports, especially when confirmed by owners evaluations at Edmunds. The Sonata has earned those high ratings. Solid performance, with surprising good acceleration, both around town and on the highway, for a four cylinder engine. Anti-lock breaks are firm and secure. Turning and cornering are comfortable. Seating has prominent lower back support. Two minor quibbles, each with solution. Passenger seat belt in retracted position bangs around against center post when windows rolled down. Lever on passenger seat can be used to clip seat belt away from post. Second, side of car easily gets muddy on wet streets, solved by mud flaps.
