Overview & Reviews
This year Hyundai adds a GLS version of the five-door hatchback to the Elantra line.
- Solidly built, powerful engine for its class, long list of standard features, comfortable interior, ultralow price tag, generous warranty.
- Floaty ride on the freeway with base suspension, hard to find equipped with ABS, poor offset crash test score.

So far, so great! - 2005 Hyundai Elantra
By Titandan - October 16 - 3:53 pmI love this car. Im averaging 33.4 miles/gallon currently and am learning to bring up the mileage by driving carefully (braking less) and trying to cruise when I can. This is in city/hwy driving. When gas is an issue, this car solves the problem. At first, the mileage was about 25-26 mpg and it has drastically improved recently. It is very comfortable and the leather was standard. The CD/audio/radio AM&FM are heck of a lot better than the Honda Civics and the sound is a lot more crisp and clear. This car is peppy and the struts are very tight. I guess thats what comes with a "sporty" suspension. A little more spring wouldnt hurt, but I like the car as a whole.

Happy with my Elantra GT - 2005 Hyundai Elantra
By Californiaguy - September 28 - 7:30 amI bought my second Elantra, and so far I am extremely happy with the car. Everything I could ask for is there, and improved compared to my previous Elantra. Before I bought it, I test-drove a few different cars, that is the one I like the most. Hyundai, keep up the great work!

Great car especially at the price - 2005 Hyundai Elantra
By James - August 23 - 9:39 amMy Chevy s10 pickup died without warning and I needed a car in a hurry and for little money. I wanted a new car but had used car money. I found the Elantra, researched it and made the purchase. I never had any problems in 70K+ miles the only things I did were brakes (one set of pads) and tires. For the price you get a good ride, some luxury and very cheap to drive (fuel and maintenance).

Comfort for the tall driver - 2005 Hyundai Elantra
By Track Guy - August 13 - 11:30 amI looked at Ford Focus, Mazda 3i, and Dodge Neon. I bypassed the Honda Civic and Toyota Corolla because of their more expensive price tags as I was looking for economy at a reasonable price. The Ford Focus I ruled out as soon as I sat in it due to the fact that I am 62" and the seat had absolutely no thigh support and was very uncomfortable. The Mazda 3i was a bit better, but the noise in the car at highway speeds was very disappointing. When I sat in the Elantra, I liked it immediately due to its adjustable front seat which provided comfortable thigh support. After a test drive I was sold...it performed very nicely and had more standard equipment on the base model than the others.

I love my Elantra GT 2005 - 2005 Hyundai Elantra
By nick - July 13 - 2:50 amAfter visiting a Mazda dealer for used Protege5 2003 car, I went to the Hyundai dealer. The Protege5 2003 is a very good car, but when I tested the 2005 Elantra GT, I felt completly in love. First this car is very funny to drive, even in winter weather (it was - 15 Celsius, and full of snow when I drove the car for the first time - in Montreal, Quebec). I tested the car for at least an hour, and my choice was made....financing package was unbeatable - 0%/5years - first payment will be in May 2006!!!! I bought the GT premium version - sunroof, ABS (great brakes), spoiler...but no TCS (Traction Control), they told me it comes only in the GT version, no premuim...I did not understand why...

GREAT LIL CAR - 2005 Hyundai Elantra
By Sonny - June 24 - 1:52 pmThis was my first new car and before I bought it I felt I had done a good job researching and it paid off. This car gets better gas mileage the listed in the epa estimates. I get 34 miles per gallon hmy and about 29 in city. It is quiet, smooth, comfortable, and has the space I have needed for moving things around, shopping etc. (I was able to fit my dishwasher at one point as well as a full sized treadmill in box). Good car, good price, good service at the dealership.

I love almost everything about it. It has been very reliable and a fun drive. I will not hesitate to purchase another Huyndai in the future.
