Overview & Reviews
This year Hyundai adds a GLS version of the five-door hatchback to the Elantra line.
- Solidly built, powerful engine for its class, long list of standard features, comfortable interior, ultralow price tag, generous warranty.
- Floaty ride on the freeway with base suspension, hard to find equipped with ABS, poor offset crash test score.

Great Buy! - 2005 Hyundai Elantra
By sean - November 18 - 2:45 amExcellent car, highly recommend to everyone. Only complaint about the car is it only gets 27 MPG on the highway regardless how you drive it. Will buy Hyundai vehicles from now on!

Very Impressed - 2005 Hyundai Elantra
By llslice - November 10 - 11:01 pmThis car has a quality feel to it. Very smooth shifting automatic, good pick up and turning circle. Firm comfortable leather seats. Switch gear for climate control and turn signal has the feel of Toyota quality. Windshield washer nozzles spit out 3 streams each.Ice cold A/C. No wind noise on the highway.Sporty handling. Bright brake lights(I can light up the persons face sitting behind me at a stop light) For the weekend mechanic oil filter and spark plugs are easily accessable. NOW THE BAD: It took 3 trips to 2 different dealships to fix the leaky moonroof. Front and rear passenger seats need to sit higher for more thigh support.Mushy brakes. Overall a great bargain.

Fun things do come in small packages - 2005 Hyundai Elantra
By Ralph - November 5 - 10:48 amThe car is small, yet big. It is a comfortable car on long trips and surprisingly it holds alot of luggage, bags and whatever else you want to bring home from vacation. Fuel economy on this car has been great. I drive a mix of highway and city and I have been getting between 29 and 31mpg, On trips, I have been getting 34.5mpg. It is fun to pull in to the gas station, fill up and leave, while the SUV guy is waiting and waiting and waiting to hit the full mark.

Love to drive it! - 2005 Hyundai Elantra
By aauummm - November 4 - 12:03 amI traded in my 2003 Elantra for the 2005 Elantra GT, four door. The GT is well worth it. I like the leather seats but think they should be heated. The car is comfortable on the road and in town. On the road it rides like a much larger sized car. It takes curves like a sports car. Its roomy and well laid out on the inside. Ive added HID headlights, a Wheelskins leather steering wheel cover and an exterior temperature monitor.

Great Car - 2005 Hyundai Elantra
By Hyundai Man - October 31 - 9:21 pmI got my 05 Elantra last month, and have put over 700 miles on it. It is a great car-much better than any of its competitors. Purchase price was $11,600, and it is the best value for the money. It has a peppy engine that has a nice growl, and handling is similar to a Jetta. Its very agile around tight corners, and really holds well to the road. I would strongly suggest this car, and think the world of the great warranty!

By bernie - October 26 - 11:50 pmAt the age of 50 I have owned my share of cars, THIS is the BEST car I have owned. It hugs and holds to the road in down pouring rain with no problems, I anticapte NO problems this winter with the snow. The warrente was the orignal reason I first started looking into a Hyundai, one I test drove it I was hooked. I HIGHLY recomend this car, it is GREAT!!!!

Great Car In Its Class - 2005 Hyundai Elantra
By Chris P. - September 29 - 6:50 amVery enjoyable to drive. Quiet interior, comfortable seats, dash has a nice layout. Seems to be built very solid. The children say its much more comfortable in the rear seat than our 95 Dodge Neon. Let me get overly critical. The brakes are soft but stop well. Handling is good but it has more body lean than the old Neon. Getting the SULEV in the automatic robs you of 6 horsepower (I live in CA, dont know if you can get the automatic here without it being SULEV). We would purchase it over all the competition again, highly recommended.

Love it - 2005 Hyundai Elantra
By Stephanie - July 3 - 10:16 amI traded in my 04 Civic for this car last week and so far Im loving it. The Hyundai has a lot more features for the same price as the Civic, and its better looking and more fun to drive. I also read that Hyundai is rated second only to Lexus for customer satisfaction. Although Honda is known as a very reliable car, I think Hyundai is just as good and pays more attention to the little details that make you love your car.
