This Year's Model Updates:

For 2002, Honda has added a glass rear window with a defroster, an improved transmission and a more powerful audio system. There are also a handful of minor changes that only '00-'01 S2000 owners would notice, such as chrome-bezel taillights, an upgraded center console, door panel net storage pockets, a new shifter knob, an aluminum-accented foot rest and silver trim interior accents. There's also a new color for 2002: Suzuka Blue.

Pros:
  • Agile chassis, rev-happy engine, minimalist design, optional hardtop.
Cons:
  • Not much low-end torque, no passenger airbag cut-off switch.

  • Wow, what a car. - 2002 Honda S2000

I had been wanting a roadster for sometime to take down the pacific coast highway. I began shopping a little over a month ago and hands down, the s2000 far outweighs the 350Z, Z3, Z4, Audi TT, and any American made convertible. The vTec kicks in and you feel it snap you back in the seat. The performance and reliability are second to none. To top that off, the styling is one off. Few people recognize this car and many ask about it. 240 HP in a 2800 lb car is simply amazing. Simply put, this car is the four wheeled brother of the Honda RR motorcycle series. I will not part with it, and am planning on getting another when I am done with this one. Plus, you can buy the hardtop!

From the first day I purchased my 2002 Honda S2000, its been nothing but pure joy. I bought it certified preowned with 16,000 miles on it in Nov 05. The S2000 is definitely not a watered down sports car. When people ask what size the motor is, I reply that its a 2.0L inline four. At that point in time, a certain look on their face says "ehh...its probably slow then." Boy, if they only knew. I give them a ride, and a few trips into Vtec and theyre hooked. Not to mention this is in a straight line, Id probably make them waste their lunch on a windy road. The S2000 isnt the most comfy car in the world, but its one of the funnest. True sports cars should be nothing less than fun

  • Performance with verve - 2002 Honda S2000

Not just a head-turner, but a performance sports car that handles with quick & smooth response. The vtech can become addictive at first and the owner needs to choose the time and place to downshift, step on the gas, and be thrown back in your seat! If you want to maneuver through traffic, you dont need to crank it up or slowly guide it to where you want to go, just do it! Reliable, well built. Have had no mechanical issues. Besides an extra set of tires, nothing but regular maintenance. Got great lines, power, and just downright fun to drive. Easy to get to know, and once youre connected, it becomes your extension to the highway. You can move or cruise at will.

I decided to have my midlife crisis at 50 years of age after all our kids were grown and gone. I leased the S2000 with no intent of keeping it more than four years. I bought out the lease this year. I can’t think of a greater rush than 8,000 RPM shifts on freeway on-ramps and ground hugging performance on the mountain roads in San Bernardino County (CA). This is a wonderful car for an enthusiast on a budget. However, if you are looking for a smooth ride and a quiet cockpit, this is definitely not your car.

  • Did You Say Honda? - 2002 Honda S2000

The top is down and its a beautiful day, you climb in open roadster style, you put your legs over the door and stand on the seat and then sit down in the low, yet comfy, bolstered seats that will hold you in while pulling VERY sharp turns, floor it all the way to the 9 thousand RPM redline, and then take the sharp turn that says 15mph at 40mph with ease. This is one fun car, Ive owned a Carrera 4 and currently own a Porsche GT3 an the S2000 is the best deal out there, a drop top car with a slick shifter and race car suspension for under 35k! You put it on more than you get in it, its like youre favorite pair of jeans, everything else just falls into place perfectly. A very fun car.

  • F1 fun @ a steal !!!!! - 2002 Honda S2000

This car is something!! I just broke it in for the recommended 600 miles by the factory and have taken it up to 8K rpm. I cant beleive the performance. Midrange is scary fast but Ill adapt. Top range is a point and shoot and youre there.

  • a true street legal race car - 2002 Honda S2000

outstanding sports car for the price. there is absolutely no worthy competitor under $45K. if you are a true sports car enthusiast, this is the one to get. the exterior is attractive and eye catching, although its a bit conservative. the engine is silky smooth even up to 9000 rpm! the transmission and shifter are the best in the world, period. what makes this car so good and received so much praise is because Honda put together an almost perfect package for a very reasonable price. if you are a non-compromising sports car lover, look no further.

  • Would do it all over again! - 2002 Honda S2000

I love to drive and specialy in this car, it is like it is another body part. The car and you become one when you drive it. I have certainly had my share of cars and I have had the opportunity to drive just about anything, all except the McLaren F1. Many Ferraris including the F40. But for shear fun, the s2000 is a very affordable, stable, fast and wonderful little sportscar. The frame is well balanced, the engine is like a small formula one motor, and the shiftpoints in the transmission are simply where you want them to be. This is a drivers car. This is my second s2000 and I would by another s2000 again.

  • Totally Cool Roadster - 2002 Honda S2000
    By -

I can sum up in one word what this Honda S2000 is, "COOL". It is registered and regarded as a car. But, it performs like no car that I ever had before. Its performance is more like a four wheeled motorcycle and is low slung like a go cart. It gets attention and looks wherever I take it. I wasnt exactly thrilled about running it on super unleaded gas at first. However, its stingy, strong running four banger gets me 26 to 28 miles to the gallon combined city and freeway driving. When I took it to my Honda dealer for its first service appointment, I was afraid that I was in for one heck of a bill. Surprisingly, my wifes Camry cost more to service. I am very happy with my S2000.

  • A blast to drive - 2002 Honda S2000

This is absolutely the best car I have ever owned. Not only is it fun to drive but the quality is just excellent in every area. Its also nice that you dont see one on every corner.
