Overview & Reviews
The 2011 Honda Pilot returns mostly unchanged from last year. Navigation is now available on the EX-L trim level and a rear entertainment system is now included on the Touring model.
- Pleasant ride, decently roomy third-row seat, smooth V6, clever interior storage features, perfect crash test scores.
- Poor braking performance, sluggish acceleration, unremarkable fuel economy, button-heavy center stack.

Not impressed - 2011 Honda Pilot
By ncg8r2 - August 10 - 6:22 pmAfter years of hearing how everyone LOVED their Honda Pilot, we broke down two years ago and bought a 2011 EX-L with 22,000 miles on it. After 4 months, the sunroof started to leak.As soon as the 36K mile warranty ran out, transmission issues. 3 months ago, more transmission issues. Last month, brand new battery went dead 3x in a week. Took the battery back but it checked ok as did alternator. Dealership was stumped said it was fine. Left me stranded and having to call tow truck twice. Turns out - another dealership 4 hours from home where I happened to be stranded - found an A/C switch was malfunctioning causing battery drain. Cant wait to find a replacement. It wont be a Honda.

current pilot owners trading up -look at alternatives - 2011 Honda Pilot
By mic14 - April 2 - 8:39 pmPurchased 2.5 yrs ago and is a major dissappointment. Also own 2003 (which we love). If trading up from that, you will be very dissappointed. + smoother transmission v. 2003. road noise better Neg.: recall problems - inferior paint resulting in rust - is happening to ours. Also serious recall on missing airbag harness screws. Other issues: terrible mileage, transmission problems - stranded us on a road trip & not covered by warranty, door hinges mis-aligned so door wouldnt close properly, undersized brakes - rotors warped at 10,000 miles, poor location of shifter (knock into neutral with knee) reduced center console space/clausterphobic, cheap materials, stain prone seats/cant get out

Just Ok - 2011 Honda Pilot
By carguy163 - August 21 - 1:20 pmOverall, I was disappointed in the Pilot. I purchased a 2011 EX-L. What disappointed me the most was the poor gas mileage for a relatively weak engine for the size of the vehicle. I was barely getting 17MPG overall. I bought the SUV for the size, it is big and can carry a lot of cargo. The ride is good, but very stiff. I had no major problems, but there was a constant allignment issue that I had to have fixed several times. I would not recommend because I feel there are much better other similiar vehicles available for the same money.

Vibration in steering when driving low speedand steering same time (walking speed, like parking) - 2011 Honda Pilot
By chris_puente - June 18 - 11:07 amWe got the Honda Pilot 2011, since it was the best option for us in the market. I have this SUV already a year and so far I have only one issue/ concern with it. I brought the car to the Honda Dealer for schedule oil change. I made them clear that I feel vibrations and noise coming from the steering wheel during parking of the car ( you have the steer for parking) or when driving out, all this vibrations are very noticeable at low speed. I did a drive with the mechanical specialist from Honda where he said that this is the first time he got that vibrations. I request to do comparison with another pilot, same year, and till today I am waiting for their feedback. issue with hydraulic oil?

Shame on Honda! Part 2 - 2011 Honda Pilot
By ewells - September 20 - 6:17 pmLast November 2010 I bought the new 2011 Pilot. In the first weeks of owning the car I got a recall notice for the front wheel axle. It was fixed and now it squeaks loudly. I have owned Hondas for 20 years and I expect better. The dealership asked me to fill out a survey after I brought it in again for the squeak and they could not fix it. I filled out their online follow up survey and have not heard back. I am now very disappointed in my Honda Dealership in Louisiana. A good alternative to this car might be the Jeep Grand CherokeeĀ just had it as a car rental and the gas mileage was far, far betterĀ as a long time Honda owner I am so disappointed this is my second time writing.

Ride - 2011 Honda Pilot
By gdion - January 5 - 8:06 pmI like my pilot I was excited to get it but I am disappointed in the ride. It seems that when you take it above 55 mph it has a vibration just enought to annoy you while your driving. I have taken my Pilot back several times, it has 3000 miles on it, they have replace the tires, rims, reblanced and road balanced the tires and it still there. Unfortunatley I have made a complaint to Honda and hopefully they will help me out. If any of you have the same problem please let me know but it seems like I may have a LEMON!

Very unhappy - 2011 Honda Pilot
By TMCHousehold - October 12 - 2:00 amWe purchased our 2011 Pilot and have had MAJOR sunroof issues. In addition to the chain rattling noise from the engine (that is apparently normal), I regret buying this vehicle and would NOT recommend it. I am very disappointed Honda feels this is a quality car.

What happened to the Honda Pilot? - 2011 Honda Pilot
By JimS - October 1 - 2:00 amPurchased the car in July, after driving the car for the last 3 months the car get very poor gas mileage on the road and in the city. The seats are horrible, I feel like I am sitting in the seats of a fast food restaurant. I had the dealer replace the seats & still had the same problem. The cloth seats in my 2004 Pilot LX were much more comfortable. This was my 5th Honda I have owned, the next time I purchase a vehicle I am going to look at other manufactures.

Can I return it? - 2011 Honda Pilot
By Tracyp - August 27 - 12:15 pmI just purchased this vehicle a week ago and typically you are suppose to be excited when you get a new car but I cant seem to get there. Here is what I have noticed so far. It drives great and has a very smooth ride but for the price I think it is missing a lot of features that should be standard. To get blue tooth or a better stereo you have to purchase the $2000 navigation system. Unless you can afford to purchase the Touring model I would look elsewhere but Ill bet in that price range other models would still have better features. Honda claims that you get more at trade-in for their vehicles, I hope so because I dont think I will own this long.

Honda Pilot Sunroof problem - 2011 Honda Pilot
By hondaguy - July 18 - 10:01 amAfter getting a lot of hassle from purchasing a Honda Pilot, the sunroof still does not work well. Dealer reset once and worked for a while now I got the same problem again: sunroof can not be closed all the way when it opened. Driving this Pilot for a month, too much noise, specially the road noise so terrible. I did a drive test again on Toyota Highlander and so much quiet. Gas mileage is not so good ~ 15 mpg in city, ~20 mpg on freeway. Well, thinking of trading this Pilot and get the Highlander. Wasted my money on his Honda.
