This Year's Model Updates:

The 2011 Honda Pilot returns mostly unchanged from last year. Navigation is now available on the EX-L trim level and a rear entertainment system is now included on the Touring model.

Pros:
  • Pleasant ride, decently roomy third-row seat, smooth V6, clever interior storage features, perfect crash test scores.
Cons:
  • Poor braking performance, sluggish acceleration, unremarkable fuel economy, button-heavy center stack.

I felt regret to get this Pilot. So noisy and gas mileage is not as good as the sticker said. Just got the car for 2 days and found out the defect. The wheel couldnt keep straight, I have to keep it to the right like ~ 15-20 degree to keep my car run straight. Brought to dealer they said that was normal. No way! My wife has the old 2002 Toyota 4Runner and didnt have something like this. I hate my Pilot now.

Second Honda we bought in 4 years, after decade+ of buying Ford/Dodge - Ill still with Honda. Both buying experiences were hassle-free, price and financing were straight forward, got the deal as promised. Dealership was clean and comfortable, didnt mind being there for a few hours. Love almost everything about the Pilot, spent PLENTY of time comparing to other mid-size SUV, best value for me overall. Contenders were Jeep GC Lim., Ford Explorer EB, Toyota 4R Lim, Nissan Pathfinder Plt. Honda just seemed to do everything better, for a better price and as always peace of mind in resale value and reliability.

In 2001 I purchased a Certified Used 1998 Honda Passport, I love that car but it was getting older and I figured I best get something new before the Passport starting showing signs of its age. In April I purchased a 2011 Honda Pilot (Pilots replaced the Passport) and could not be happier. The gas mileage isnt great but other than that I love it. The only complaint I have is that Honda should make Bluetooth standard equipment in all their cars. Took it out for its first long road trip yesterday and it was a joy to drive. Still have my Passport too!

Picked it up over the weekend. Great driving position - really wide and roomy. Didnt note a problem with sunroof. All around my wife and I are pleased. Mileage is not going to be great - but I knew that going in to the purchase. Going to take awhile to fully learn about functions and features for the Electronics/Navigation Systems.

I just turned in a leased saab suv 97x and purchased my Pilot. I purchased the LX model and was concerned I was going to miss all the "perks" of driving a luxury suv. I havent missed my Saab at all! I love my new Pilot! Its roomy, rugged looking & very comfortable! It is also extremely fun to drive. Its perfect for my family. I had 3 Honda accords and then in 2005 purchased a Saab 95 wagon, and then in 2008 leased a saab 97. Both were complete headaches! They were both in the shop constantly! I couldnt be happier to be back in a Honda! I can hardly wait to take a road trip!

I purchased my Honda from Tustin DCH Acura. I have had my vehicle for one month but only had the pleasure of driving it for two and a half weeks because this dealership had my vehicle for over 10 days after purchasing it for repairs. They are not very good at returning calls and still arent. They are very nice people but they dont return calls especially after you purchase. When I was trying to purchase the truck they return every call but after I gave them my $19,500 cashiers check I cant get them to return my calls without going through management. I will update my review if I can after driving for a while to tell if gas mileage is good and other things about the vehicle. EDMUNDS IS AWESOME, VERY HELPFUL AND EXCELLENT CUSTOMER SERVICE. THANK YOU SYDNEY WIGGLESWORTH AND LARRY PATTERSON. YOU TWO WERE VERY HELFUL, NICE, POLITE, AND RETUENED MY CALLS/EMAILS. I WILL USE EDMUNDS AGAIN. AND HAVE TOLD MANY ABOUT YOU. THANK YOU. R. BABERS

  • Very poor residual value after 5 yrs & 70K miles - 2011 Honda Pilot

This Honda Pilot EX-L (it has everything except navigation) does not hold its value like a Toyota product, which is very disappointing. My Toyota Tacoma 4X4 w/90,000 miles, is two years older and has a higher trade-in value. I have not had to repair anything on it, just fluid and oil/air filter changes by the car computer notification, a few recalls, new battery at 5 yrs., new Michelin tires at 30,000 miles which greatly improved the ride quality. The tires still look new after 40,000 miles. I want to keep it but she wants a new vehicle at her retirement. I purchased it certified used with 20,000 miles. MPG mostly city is 16.5 MPG, while highway got up to the best at 22.5 mpg. at speeds between 60 - 75 mph. Jan. 5, 2017 update: Made several dealership visits over the past week and have received trade-in offers between $14K - $18 if I purchased their vehicles: 2016 Acura MDX demo w/5K miles trade-in offer of $14K one day then $15K the next day. A new 2017 Buick Enclave trade-in offer went from $16K to $18K as I walked out the door. A new 2016 Honda Pilot Elite trade-in offer was $15.5K. A Mazda CX9 offer was $14K. Although these offers are within Edmunds published values, I turned them down because they wanted me to pay their bloated prices that were above MSRP prices in most cases for their add-on trinkets of $1K -3K. Still hunting for the best "win, win" deal.
