  • Flawed But Fun - 2005 Honda Element

Overall concept is a winner but a few problems keep this from being a "10" for me. Visibility is sometimes tricky due to the thick pillars. Sun roof would be much better in the front than the back. Gas mileage should be higher for such a small vehicle. But these are minor complaints, this car is a ton of fun to drive--especially when you consider its boxy shape and weight. Acceleration is decent, handling for a four-wheeled box is reasonable and the amount of roominess inside is amazing. Its also very comfortable on a long road trip. On the whole, this is a lot of car for the money.

Fun to drive, easy to handle, great turning. I took my Element to the mountains last winter. No problems climbing those steep hilly roads with ice and wind.

  • Not For Everyone, But Perfect for Me - 2005 Honda Element

This vehicle isnt a perfect fit for everyone, but you should consider it if you need lots of cargo room in a small package, you need a car thats easy to clean, you arent a speed demon (acceleration is only fair and RPMs run pretty high even at 65 mph), you have to deal with snowy roads on a regular basis, you want a vehicle with a plethora of interior storage compartments, and youre poor (or cheap) enough that youd rather sleep in your car than in a hotel room.

  • Little Blue Toaster - 2005 Honda Element

I have loved the blue toaster since the first day off the lot. The manual transmission has great pick-up and can get out of its own way. This is a great little car for someone like me who has three dogs and a back yard that has needed lots of love in the last year. That means lots of trips to home depot to use the mop clean interior of the car. Also the bike mount on the interior of the car has come in handy. But here is a tip...you can make one yourself instead of paying the dealer $300 for the accessory. Get the mount at REI and a large screw some washers and a small piece of wood from home depot. Happy toasting and see you on the road. Remember to wave hello in your new toaster.

  • Best ever dog crate! - 2005 Honda Element

I really LOVE this Element. I have 3 Australian Shepherds who travel everywhere with me and I can fit 3 dogs crates in the back with no problem. Cleaning the interior is easy. The Element handles well, handles mountain grades with ease and has reasonable fuel economy at 23-24 mpg. Great ski vehicle too!

Ive had my "E" for a little more than a week and have put over 500 miles on it - and love it! I bought it as our crossover car and my daily driver. I drive in DC traffic and have found that having a 5 spd manual a plus - especially with four cylinder engine.

So far its a fantastic, practical vehicle. No problems in first year of ownership. A breeze to clean inside, the EX has a completely washable interior, including the headliner.

  • 2005 Rallye Red EX - 2005 Honda Element

I really like the Element. It drives well, and has excellent acceleration. I would suggest if you are considering any color that is paired with the blue or black composite panels to reconsider. The black composite panels are difficult to keep clean. I had owned my car for about 5 days when a thunderstorm came through. I drove on all paved roads, yet the dirt and mud that accumulated on the panels was unreal. I had to wash the panels at least 3x to get rid of the dirt. Water spots are also a problem. The regular gray panels would be much easier to clean. The red and black look sharp together but it takes a lot of time to clean the panels.
