  • My Honda - 2004 Honda CR-V

My experience with my crv has been supurb. I have had to make numerous trips back and forth to the Tampa area this past year because of my sisters serious illness and battle with cancer. And I do have to say my CRV was awesome!! The ride from Palm Beach County to Hillsborough county was so smooth and the gas mileage and performance was fantastic. I loved driving back and forth only because the comfort and the handeling of my CRV was easy. I a woman feared driving the distance but with my Honda CRV I felt very safe and in control at all times.

  • a/c problems - 2004 Honda CR-V

Ive had my car for 17 mos., & have had problems with the A/C 3 times. The 1st time the dealership claimed a rock had penetrated my grill & put a hole in the A/C causing fluid to leak. The warranty wouldnt cover it, & I had to pay for repairs. The 2nd time the A/C failed, I took it to the dealership & was told the condenser fell apart. Warranty covered it. The dealership service dept. said that this was a problem in faulty design for 2003/2004 models & they had had the problem often. I didnt have it for more than 2 days after the repairs and the A/C has started fading in and out.

  • No More Hondas - 2004 Honda CR-V

Bought new in 04. Tires wore out after 20,000 miles. Excessive wind and road noise, rides like a tank, seats are not comfortable. Front struts had to be replaced at 50,000 mi. and yes my air cond. went out at 59000 mi., cost $2800 at dealer. Found someone to fix for $1000. Eng. light keeps coming on and off. No more Hondas.

  • Great Car - 2004 Honda CR-V

This car is such a great car for the money!!! Acceleration is awesome for a 4 cylander, and the gas mileage is great too. Very roomy and queit ride. I love the fold down seat configurations.

  • Great value - 2004 Honda CR-V

Cavernous interior for such a small car, with good cargo space and a generous back seat, though taller drivers will want more leg room. Child/booster seats easy to install. Excellent handling: responsive engine, tight turning radius, great visibility and good feedback. Parking in tight spots is easy. AWD saved me on snowy days. MPG is mid 20s. Controls are simple and easy to use in the otherwise spartan interior. Great safety ratings, feels solidly built and proven very reliable after five years.

  • Honda is still tops - 2004 Honda CR-V

Had an older CRV when it first debuted. Was not happy with acceleration and smallness of car. Came back to it with the 2004 edition. Power was improved greatly. The EX edition basically gives you everything you need. Was able to purchase one that just came in before the dealer added all of thier extras to. Got a great deal on a rainy night.

  • Great first SUV - 2004 Honda CR-V

I decided on the CRV when I got tired of driving a two door. It has been a great decision so far. I love the cargo room, the height of the vehicle, real time 4WD comes in handy with ice, and it heats up quickly in the winter. It is hard to see over the middle headrest though.

  • How Could This Be? - 2004 Honda CR-V
    By -

I bought my CRV brand new and have always driven it very gently. From day 1, I noticed there is significant wind noise and road noise. I didnt think much of it at first, but then other mysterious noises began to show. I cant get the dealer to figure out where a rattling sound is coming from whenever I drive on rough surfaces. Then there is this high pitch whining noise that is very noticeable when the car is going 40-55mph. They say its a normal sound from the transmission. I dont believe it because it wasnt there for the first 4 years. And now the car averages 16 mpg. I know there are just annoying problems but they really reduce my enjoyment of driving this Honda.

  • Into the Shop Every 2 Months... - 2004 Honda CR-V

Overall, my Honda has never died on me. I am a very spirited driver, but there are no excuses for some of the constant repairs being done to my car. I needed a new front axle at 60,000 (living in the NYC metro area, we have those big pot-holes), I have blown about 5 or 6 engine mounts, needed a new transmission at 80,000 miles, needed to replace throttle plate at 15,000 miles, the list goes on, and on. Thank god I used common sense, and bought the extended warranty. Its just a shame the terrible customer service at my local dealer turned me off to Honda, and therefore will probably never buy another Honda again. Was a great car until around the 50,000 mile mark. Then its all down hill.

  • Short of expectations - 2004 Honda CR-V
    By -

Styling and driving pleasure are the strong points but gas mileage and build quality are way below Hondas usual efforts. Mileage averages 17/21. Lowest has been 16/20. Never over 19/23. Dealer says thats normal and wont note the complaint on a work order. Door and both side mirrors rattle/shake at hwy speeds and theres a rattle in the dash. Mirrors have been tightened twice. Radio is horrible. If this were a Kia Id rate it a 7 overall for having exceeded my expectations. But its way short of expectations for a Honda. I wonder if assembly in England could account for the poor build quality as I recall the poor quality of MG, TRiumph, etc. Fun to drive, but I wouldnt want to own one.
