This Year's Model Updates:

The 2006 Honda Accord receives freshened interior and exterior styling and mechanical- and feature-related updates. Sharp eyes will notice the Accord's revised fascias and new alloy wheel designs. Minor engine tweaks, including drive-by-wire throttle control, result in a slight bump in horsepower for both the four-cylinder and V6 engine (a more significant development than you might think given the more stringent SAE testing procedures in effect this year). Additionally, the V6 sedan can now be equipped with a six-speed manual transmission, and all V6 models have revised suspension settings, 17-inch alloy wheels and stability control. Last year's DX has been replaced by the VP (Value Package) trim with standard air conditioning and cruise control, and LX V6 and Hybrid models gain a moonroof. The LX Special Edition includes alloy wheels, rear disc brakes and a CD changer. The Accord Hybrid also picks up stability control and a temporary spare tire in place of last year's flat-fix kit. Additionally, the Hybrid model's fuel economy rating drops from 29 city/37 highway to 25/34. Finally, all models get a smart maintenance system and daytime running lamps.

Pros:
  • Roomy and stylish interior with simple controls, tight build quality, smooth ride, refined drivetrains, good crash test scores, strong reputation for reliability, high resale value.
Cons:
  • Tepid handling, brakes should be more powerful. Hybrid model offers no advantage in fuel economy over four-cylinder.

  • Problems with Hybrid - 2006 Honda Accord
    By -

I thought the bugs were out of this car when I purchased it. I was wrong. In cold weather, around 20 degrees, or less, it runs rough with a power loss and thats not acceptable for a $30,000 vehicle. I only have 3000 miles on the car. Honda replaced a "module" and the problem is still there. This tells me Honda does not know what to do. In warmer temperatures, it runs fine. Id love to hear from other Accord Hybrid owners who have this problem, and what you did to solve it. I need help. These cars are rare and I see none on the road and no one to talk to. Id like to give some expensive, free advice to anyone considering this Hybrid. Wait. There are problems. Thank You, Wyatt

I have to admit I have always been a Toyota Camry woman until this car. Love it. I am so pleased with the car, rides great, good on gas, very very roomy. I have the silver which is very good on dirt. This is just a great car and I would tell anyone to get one.

We purchased our 2006 Honda Accord LX SE 5 speed after driving and comparing it to comparably equipped Chevrolet Malibu, Toyota Camry, Nissan Altima and Mazda 6. We found that the Accord compares most favorably overall when compared to the competion. Its ride, handling and performance of the I-VTEC 4cyl is tough to beat, its a very comfortable good handling quiet, fun to drive sedan. Our experience with Hondas has been very positive, our 98 Accord which we still own, has over 90,000 miles and has its original clutch, rear tires and front and rear brake pads. No problems whatsover and it returns around 30mpg in mostly in town driving, we think this 06 model will do even better.

  • unbeatable value at certain price - 2006 Honda Accord

We bought our manual VP for $16,300 after the labor day weekend . At this price this car is a great value with all the neat features--front, side and curtian airbags, ABS, power everything even the trunk release on key fob, AC, fold down rear seat(although no split). Dont care about the extras the next up trim LX has (more speakers, power mirrors, etc) which cost nearly $2K more. It handles great and rides comfortably and is extremely quiet. If youre just looking for cheap and reliable basic transportaiton, the Accord cant be beat AT THIS PRICE. However our new car had a problem with the rear seat fold down mechanism but corrected itself somehow when I brought it in.

  • Car to buy - 2006 Honda Accord

I have researched to buy a new car for almost six months. There were few cars in the line to buy like 2006 Passat, Mazda etc, but this car over runs every one of them. For a middle class buyers this car holds the value for the longest duration and then there is HONDA to stand behind it for the quality and performance. I have till now driven @ 500 miles and have enjoyed every bit of it. Sales persons are great.

Fun and easy to drive car. Switched from Dodge Stratus. Accord is first Honda purchased. Good interior room. Like the minor exterior styling changes from 2005 to 2006. Lots of standard safety features.

This is a near luxury car for a sedan price. It really has everything I need. About the only extra items I could even think of are memory seats and heated mirrors. The engine is powerful, the steering tight, the ride smooth and refined and the build quality first rate. It takes me longer to get anywhere because I always want to stretch out the drive experience.

  • Honda Number 10 - 2006 Honda Accord

As you can see Ive owned many Hondas over the years. I also dont put much stock in a review of a car after just 2 days of ownership! Ive had this car for 10 months and it is absolutely great. Boring looks, but a sweet ride. The V6 has plenty of power for flat Ohio and the roads here are the biggest reason to ever complain about ride and handling, not the car itself. Its significantly bigger than a Civic (Honda # 9) and while I can live with the bland look, itd be nice to get Civic-like gas mileage. On the other hand, I feel much more safe and secure in inclement weather driving the Accord. Room for 5 easily and quieter than the Civic too. This is really just about the perfect car.
