This Year's Model Updates:

For 2004, the Envoy adds several items to the options list, including XM Satellite Radio (and a new stereo to accommodate it), a DVD-based navigation system and adjustable pedals. There are also a few minor equipment changes this year. In SLE models, the door trim is now vinyl instead of cloth, and lumbar adjustment for the front seats is two-way manual rather than the previous four-way feature. Additionally, there is no longer a power outlet in the cargo area, and SLE badging will no longer grace the B-pillars. SLT models also get a revised steering wheel. Lastly, when playing a DVD in Envoys with the optional entertainment system, you can now hear it through the audio system in addition to the wireless headphones.

Pros:
  • Plenty of cool options, strong six-cylinder power, attractive interior design.
Cons:
  • Numb steering, low-grade interior pieces, sloppy handling around corners.

  • I Love My Truck! - 2004 GMC Envoy

I traded in a 2003 Durango less than a yr old. A gas hog and rode like a tank. I drove and researched SUVs for 3 months. Hands Down this truck takesem ALL :)Its gas mileage is 16-18 city/20- 24 hwy and handles like a charm expecially in deep snow and mud. I havent had any problems and Im looking forward to future models. I can only imagine it gets better from what Ive read so far. YOU GO ENVOY!!!

Ive had this Envoy with V6 engine SLE for over 2 years. The ride is still smooth as butter. This vehicle suprisingly, still handles the bumps very well. Like if Ive just purchased her yesterday. Havent had any major problems with her. Being a home owner, Im constantly making trips to Home Depot and Im glad I have the Envoy. The snow is never a problem for the Envoy. The running boards are a big plus to have. Did I mentioned the power...love the power she has. Ive driven other SUVs and so far, none can compare to her power.

Envoy is exactly what I hoped for. Traded in 1998 Envoy for this car; the 2004 is much more improved.

So far, we have been very pleased with this vehicle. We did a lot of research prior to purchasing this vehicle, mainly comparing it with the Jeep Cherokee. The salesman we worked with on the Envoy was very knowledgeable on the vehicle and its many features. There was no hype, just facts. All in all, an enjoyable experience and as I said above, we are pleased with the vehicle so far.

The GMC Envoy is responsive to cornering yet offers a very smooth and quiet ride. The engine is strong and carries 5 persons with no problems. We made a 5 hour trip and everyone was comfortable and not fatiqued. Options are well designed and easy to use. It is a big improvement over our last SUV - an Isuzu Trooper. Gas mileage is OK at 19-21 MPG.

This is a solid, body-on-frame truck -- no jacked-up-car SUV wannabe. I also think it is one of the best looking SUVs on the market. GM went to great lengths to create a soft ride, but with the result that it compromises handling. I installed aftermarket shocks, springs and sway bar to lower it and give it the handling it should have had from the factory (see what Saab has done with its version). The engine and transmission are great, but do not work as well together as they ought to. Im looking forward to a Hypertech or Superchips programmer. So far, however, I have had zero problems and this is a very comfortable, entertaining vehicle. My dogs love it!

I have had my Envoy for over a month and it has been a great vehicle. Its comfortable and a smooth ride. It was either this one or the Jeep Grand Cherokee but I noticed that the amount of power was awesome and its roomy too for the whole family
