Overview & Reviews
The biggest news is the availability of the AdvanceTrac stability control system. All Windstars have sliding doors on both sides for 2002. Entry-level LX models get upgraded appearance items, and buyers of this trim can opt for the Autovision entertainment system and 16-inch alloy wheels for the first time. The short-lived SE Sport model is dropped, and SE buyers can no longer have leather seats. Four new colors freshen the outside of the Windstar.
- Top-flight safety equipment and ratings, plenty of interior features and options, powerful V6 engine.
- Disconnected ride and handling, poor interior space utilization, noisy V6 engine.

Its O.K. - 2002 Ford Windstar
By jdc690 - August 8 - 8:14 pmIm not a van lover but bought the Windstar so our son and his family could all fit in for short trips. Former owner obviously was not much interested in washing, waxing or vacuuming but it cleaned up pretty good and since I paid a pretty reasonable price Im happy with it so far. Big gas hog (16 mpg) but so was the pick-up it replaced. The grandkids love the video player and after I bought headphones for them its O.K. for us too. Still not a big fan of vans but I like this one as well as Id like any. Ive always had my best luck with Ford products.

One Year Update - 2002 Ford Windstar
By Woodbyrne - July 13 - 8:47 amIt has been a year since we bought this minivan. Overall we love its functionality. The one minor problem is the back seat. We knew it didnt fold flat when we got it but it would be nice if it did. Getting it out is not that hard but it is very heavy. I can do it alone but its a good workout. So far there have been no problems at all. The kids love it and so does my wife. Now that gas is $3 per gallon and rising, wish it had better fuel economy. No minivan is really fuel efficient but this thing is a pig. We average 16mpg with mostly local stop-and-go driving. We are seriously considering trading it in for a more efficient wagon but it has been so reliable we cant.

Save your money and buy a Honda - 2002 Ford Windstar
By ROBBIE - May 16 - 4:21 pmI have had so many problems with this van it makes me sick. In the past two months I have replaced a transmission, O2 sensor, EGR valve, another sensor that regulates the fuel, and power steering pump. I only have 80,000 miles on it.

It is what it is! - 2002 Ford Windstar
By Jason - February 20 - 7:43 pmIm not a minivan fan, but for our family outings its what we drive. As far as value for the money I think its hard to beat this Ford. Its comfortable for 2 adults and 5 children ages 2 to 11, but I see the need for something larger as our children get older. We average 19-21 mpg and have had no major mechanical problems in our first 47000 miles. We have had minor cooling system problems, and a nuisance problem with a door indicating its open when its actually closed. Both problems where repaired reasonably by a local private shop. All in all I think itd be tough to beat this vehicle for the money.

Not Great...Not Bad - 2002 Ford Windstar
By dragonfly052172 - October 24 - 4:14 pmGreat for first couple of years ... then it wears out. Electronics start to go. Rear wiper motor -- gone! Trim and door hardware start to come off. Interior is just plain ol cheap. So dont buy unless its for the long haul. Because it depreciates too fast. Oh yeah, gas mileage of 20 mpg on highway! Not good at all.

Best Value Ive found - 2002 Ford Windstar
By vanfan - August 11 - 1:37 pmI have an 02 and had a 96 prior. both have been quite reliable. the 02 was only to the dealer 2 times in 3 years (once under warranty). My brother has had his Odyssey in as many times, and paid a WHOLE bunch more for the van. Great for towing our folding camper as well. I highly recommend!

Looking for something else - 2002 Ford Windstar
By Mom of 3 - July 12 - 11:43 amHaving 3 kids, I thought I had to have a minivan. This Windstar was the most stylish in my opinion. Has had a strange clunking in the front end when going 55 mph or higher, no one seems to know what it is.
