Buyers looking at the 2007 Ford Ranger will find more standard equipment compared to last year's model. All Rangers come with dual-stage front airbags with a front-passenger sensor, a tire-pressure monitoring system and an anti-theft system. For entertainment, all CD players are now MP3-compatible, and all head units except the base AM/FM receiver have an auxiliary input jack. Sirius satellite radio is optional on all but base XL models. The 2.3-liter four-cylinder engine is now standard on two-wheel-drive STX regular cabs and two-door extended cabs, in place of last year's 3.0-liter V6. A 4.10 axle ratio is now available on four-wheel-drive models, while 4x4 Ranger XL models can be equipped with skid plates. Rounding out the changes are two new 16-inch alloy wheel designs and a longer five-year/60,000-mile powertrain warranty.

Ford fan for life - 2007 Ford Ranger
By Ryan Kunes - October 10 - 2:00 amGot my ranger a little over a year ago now and wish I would have got the third door option but for what I use it for it is an outstanding truck. Now running in to a few problems just put front brakes in and now there is still some noise coming from the drivers side so back to the shop we go.

2nd Time not as good as the first! - 2007 Ford Ranger
By 8point - March 19 - 8:22 amThis is my 2nd Ranger, 1st was a 95 4.0 STX. I like the extra room in the super cab and overall styling, but not the performance. 18 mpg highway (and I drive easy) and no low end hp or torque. My 95 was 10 times better in low gear off road and got 23+mpg to boot. I dont feel the extra hp (47) from the new engine and gas mileage flat out stinks for a V6 of this size. Ive got friends with big diesels that get almost the same mileage with twice the performance! As stated by Edmunds, the trucks strong point is off-road, so why give it an engine that produces its power above 3,500 rpm?! Have had no mechanical/service issues with the truck in the first year of ownership.

Beware-Front End problems - 2007 Ford Ranger
By Ron - December 11 - 8:46 pmMy new Ranger has been in the shop 13 times in one year - 7 times in the past 2 months-Only has 15,000 km. Problems started first month-serious clunking in the steering in mid-turn & when accelerating from stop.Inner Tie rod ends have been replaced 4 times in 2 monthsc- last ones were Fords new/improved ones, as a result of TS Bulletins and serious problems. Also had intermediate shaft replaced twice and lower steering shaft once. Finally no clunking - only been a week - I am wary. Dealer told me several other owners have the same problem. Ford avoiding a recall? In my mid-40s, owned 28 vehicles all makes...never had such an unreliable piece of metal in the driveway (and I am a Ford fan).

Is it worth it? - 2007 Ford Ranger
By David - May 4 - 1:14 amI recently brought a Ford Ranger Fx4 level 2 due to its low price and standard options on the vehicle. My experience with this truck it aint great. After 2 weeks of driving, the wheel alignment was off, battery died have to get it boost. The truck is a gas guzzler. It doesnt provide a lot of power, throttle response is very slow. Bottom line, the truck isnt worth buying. Ford commercial looks good on TV, but where they get you is when you purchase their vechicle.

Very Disappointed - 2007 Ford Ranger
By Lemon - January 6 - 3:55 amPurchased 4 cylinder with automatic. Idle is very rough with vibration through steering wheel. Returned to dealer 2 times. Dealer said motor mounts and exhaust needed alignment. No help. Checked this vehicle against other similar vehicle at dealer and found other vehicle to be smoother. When idle increased 25 to 50 RPM, smooths out to normal. Dealer says Idle can not be adjusted. Had several 4 cylinder vehicles and all idle smooth. Dealer says thats the way Rangers are, it can not be fixed. Looks like I am stuck with rough running new vehicle. Should have purchased Japanese.
