  • Ranger Edge plus 4.0 4x4 - 2002 Ford Ranger
    By -

The Ranger Edge plus 4x4 is my first new vehicle in ten years. I was attracted by its looks, features, and price. Thus far I am very happy with just about everything on this truck. It is a good value and financing through Ford was 0%. I have not been back to the dealer with any troubles yet and it seems to be built quite solidly.

My ex-wife bought the Ranger in Dec of 02, and decided she didnt like it. I got it in the divorce, and I loved it! With the 4.10 rear axle it pulled like a full size pickup, and with its lighter weight it was quick off the line empty. The only downside was that the 4.10 rear end made it suck fuel like a full size pickup. It took me through mud, snow drifts, and I could pass going uphill with a trailer attached. Im 64" and there is enough leg room for me to be comfortable.

  • Growing out of my truck - 2002 Ford Ranger

My family is growing so unfortunately my truck has to as well. I have said many times that if I did not HAVE to get a new truck I would keep this until it falls apart. And at the rate things are going that could be a long time. I will go through 3 feet of snow while every other full size SUV is spinning their wheels. I have taken it through ditches, over curbs, across the country twice (both times fully loaded) with no problems. It is a truck and the best I have ever driven. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a serious, no frills, no luxury vehicle that will get the job done every time. P.S. Im 64" and it fits me fine.

  • Another good Ford - 2002 Ford Ranger

This is my third Ford Ranger. I upgraded with the options each time. The current vehicle i am driving has the 4 liter engine with the towing package and it handles my 2000 lb boat very well. I will definitely buy another Ford.

  • Horribly disappointing. - 2002 Ford Ranger

I bought my Ranger in hopes of getting a reliable truck that had decent fuel economy. What I got was a hulk of junk. I literally had problems from the second day I owned the truck. Over the 19 months I owned the truck, Ford replaced 2 thermostats, the radiator, the transmission, the radio, the gauge cluster, the back glass, and numerous third brake light seals. The truck left me stranded, without warning, 4 times - including last Thanksgiving Day. Fuel economy is not what they tell you, either. I drove 100 miles to work round trip every day doing 70 mph on the interstate, and the best gas mileage I ever got was 24 mpg - and its a 4 cylinder! I have since bought a Toyota, and couldnt be happier.

I have owned my 2002 Ford Ranger since August 2002, and overall I am extremely happy with my purchase. I dont know why so many of the automobile trade magazines and even you Edmunds put down the Ford Ranger as being obsolete! I compared the Ford Ranger against the Toyota Tacoma, Nissan Frontier, and Chevrolet S-10 at the time and I choose the Ford Ranger. My Ford Ranger has been reliable 100% of the time. It is easy to do the routine preventative maintenance. The price was right. I get better gas mileage (28 mpg in town driving and 34 mpg highway driving) than what the sticker showed for estimated expected MPG. If I were to buy another truck, I would definitely buy a Ford again.

  • The Best! - 2002 Ford Ranger
    By -

My Ford ranger is built in Edison NJ. The Truck was put together very well. Have had no problems at all with it. The rear window is solid. The 5sp. manual works very well, if your towing things around, like in upstate NY. This is my first ranger, and I will keep on buying. My Ranger came with Goodyear RT/S tires on. Good tires. Also in the interior, there is almost NO noise. Unlike in the other Manuf, you get alot or road noise.

  • Best Lil Truck 4 Me - 2002 Ford Ranger

I purchased my 4WD Edge new in 2002. Its going strong in 2006. Ive been all across the country, and commute from Houston to Crockett 3 times per month. You may think its a chick truck, but 4 wheeling is terrific, and it carries everything an artist/remodeler needs (for a chick). Ive owned a lot of vehicles, this one is just plain fun!

  • Awesome Truck! - 2002 Ford Ranger

I bought this truck about a year ago and I love it. It has the 4.0 liter sohc V6 engine which has plenty of power and is very reliable (except the alternator goes a little wacky sometimes - the plug going to the voltage regulator goes bad sometimes). But I still wish Ford would make the 4.6 liter v8 available for the Ranger.

  • American vehicle thats fine by me - 2002 Ford Ranger

After having an 84 Ranger and getting over 200,000 miles on it, I went back for more. Mileage could be better getting 18-19 average. Not a SINGLE problem with this truck.
