This Year's Model Updates:

A new FX4 model debuts, designed to appeal to Ranger XLT Extended Cab buyers who need to do some serious off-roading. Among the hardware goodies are a limited-slip differential, 31-inch BFGoodrich all-terrain tires, special 15-inch alloy wheels, tow hooks, skid plates, Bilstein shocks, special exterior trim and sport seats. All Rangers get a SecuriLock antitheft system, while XLT and Edge 4WD models have a new 16-inch wheel design. An MP3 player is newly optional, and models equipped with a 3.0-liter V6 get improved fuel economy.

overall great truck. Mechanically, no problems. Twice in shop for window leak. However, ford fixed immediately at no charge. Truck has handled rugged extremes i have subjected it to. Looks wonderful with bigger off-road tires. Gas milege is excellent.

I got my 02 Ranger about 6 weeks ago. This is my 3rd ranger in 5 years or so. I just turned in a 99 4x4, 3.0 v6 flare side, for this 02, 4.0, 4x4. What a world of difference that engine makes, add that with the 5 speed automatic. After the firestone tires were replaced with those crappy crappy crappy Goodyear Wrangler RTSs, there was no way in H@!! I would buy another vehicle with those tires. The new one has the 31x10.5 BFGs. Very nice. Overall Im very satisfied with the engine, transmission, ride, and quality. The ford dealership leaves MUCH to be desired.

Great little big truck, The body style is very nice makes for a sharp truck. The extra room is very nice.Very easy to drive and the bench seat is what a truck should have. The 3.0 does not have the getty up I like but to come and go its perfect. Milage on the open road was 23 mpg at 60 mph in town not sure. Highth of his truck is nice.

I traded my 2001 Ranger in for my 2002 because I was going to be doing alot of driving and wanted an Auto Transmission. There are a few things that bug me about this truck it has the 3.0 V-6 if you step on the gas the engine rattles like crazy it sounds like it is going to throw a piston. The ride is horrible over any roads other than smooth highways. Has anyone else heard the racket from this engine in there truck? I can say however I havent had any problems with the reliability though.

My Ranger is white w/gery interior. I bought this truck in Carlsbad, CA and have taken it to Vegas, Whistler, back to Carlsbad and now to Seattle. I love everything about it...from the rugged looks to the spacious interior (I am 6 3 and have plenty of room). I wanted a Toyota, but I will never doubt again.

I bought this truck in Oct 2002 as I needed the extended cab. I also have a Chevy S10 reg. cab and realized it was not roomy enough for traveling. Quite frankly I wanted another Chevy but there were none to be found. I liked the looks of the Ranger Edge and how it sits up higher, but soon found out it was not all I thought it would be. The 3.0 V6 engine just doesnt seem peppy enough especially on the highway. The engine is noisy and the steering isnt as responsive as Im used to.

Great truck so far, but I have had it less than a week. Unknown gas millage, but it appears to be in the low 20s. Great power for a little 3.0, 5speed. The ride is great, and the looks sold me. Not a bad bargain considering the sticker was $17,700 and I paid $10,700 out the door with tax and title. Try to beat that deal when looking at the competition.

Trucks are getting too FANCY!!! Nobody really has a true basic model at a reasonable price... except this Ford Ranger!!! Even the S-10 is climbing up in price.
