This Year's Model Updates:

Lower-line V6 models get standard 16-inch alloy wheels and a new hood while losing the fake side scoops. Premium models can be equipped with a Mach 1000 audio system. Both this system and the Mach 460 get speed-sensitive volume. Later this year, an MP3 player will be available. Performance Red paint is replaced with Torch Red.

Pros:
  • Strong V8 power with GT, fun to drive, appealing all-American style, good crash-test scores, ragtop option.
Cons:
  • Solid rear axle, excessive gingerbread detailing on GT, poor stereo ergonomics, flaccid seats.

  • Best Bang for the Buck - 2002 Ford Mustang

Its my 3rd Mustang GT. Ive had a 94, 96 and 99 each having over 100K by the time I traded them in.No mechanical failures on any of them, and with minimal maintenence. Because I travel alot for work, Ive opted to buy a car that does great on the highway. Its comfortable in long range trips, as it is in city driving. Its not a bone jarring ride like most other coupes. Quiet ride for the most part, V8 burble only makes itself heard on hard accelrations and wind noise is well controlled.

Been in love with the car since I got it. Leather in great condition, seating comfortable, handling was great, performance was very good.

  • A lot of bang for the money - 2002 Ford Mustang

I purchased my 2002 GT in March of 2007 after waiting many years to be able to afford one. This car is a real head turner in Laser Red with the factory 5 spoke aluminum rims. I have upgraded the exhaust with a set of Flowmaster 40s (mufflers) and the intake with a K&N cold air intake. Both aftermarket options cost about $500 installed and completely changed the car and woke it up. Would recommend these ad-ons to anyone. A real fun dependable fuel efficient car for the money. I bought the car with 49,000 miles on it and now have 57,000 and I have done nothing but change the oil and put rear brake pads on it.

  • Have had my GT for 7 months now......... - 2002 Ford Mustang

This is my fourth Mustang since 1983, and Ford, IMO, continues to improve on quality and performance with each new offering. Hey, this great bang for your buck vehicle aint a Corvette or Camaro, but if you really need a Chevy killer, order yourself a new 03 Cobra. Some of the above reviewers express a dissatifaction with their new ride; youve got to thoroughly test drive and check for interior/exterior flaws before you sign the dotted line! I went through 4 new GTs on 3 different lots before I found one with a flawless paint job and mechanical operation. Hood and side scoops are fake - so what! They add to the overall looks of a great car!

  • Lots of miles, still cuisin - 2002 Ford Mustang

I purchased my Mustang GT through Ebay in 2005 (had 45,000 miles), with excellent success. I drive the car quite often, with multiple out of state trips. The highway mileage is 27- 29 mpg (this at 80 mph!), the city mileage is 20-23 mpg (depends on AC usage). Im nearing 100,000 miles, with absolutely no issues. I would buy another Mustang in a heartbeat.

I have never owned a better car in my life. OK, sure, Im a little Mustang bias, since my last car was also a 1991 Mustang, but I wouldnt keep buying the same car if it wasnt satisfying me. The ride is smooth. The power is supreme. The look is dashing. What more could you want?

  • A few flaws but not bad - 2002 Ford Mustang

First of all, I really got a great deal on my new Mustang and highly reccomend Traedwell Ford of Mobile, AL. Went back to the Mustang GT after a few years off and it as sweet as I remember it. I could do without the caution tags on the visor that will not seem to come off. Also the stereo buttons placement on the stereo make it very hard to see the stereo display when you are making adjustments. I hate the seatbelt warning sound when you are not wearing your belt and that the seat will not lay back. Please remember that the good over lap the bad by far but just some things to consider before you buy.

  • An American Classic - 2002 Ford Mustang

I get lots of looks and comments at stop lights. Nice acceleration. Incredible sound system. Not too bad gas mileage, all things considered. My mineral grey with black convertible top and black leather interior stang looks great. My main complaint is that, on 3 separate occasions, the gas flow to the engine shut off when I was decelerating with the clutch pushed in - probably a computer chip problem that can be fixed by the dealer at no-cost to me. I plan to keep this car forever, although I will likely be buying a 4-wheel drive Escape for winter driving.

I think it is a great car I feel like driving it more than even my favorite car the corvette,it has filled my every need and more and for less than 25,000 I dont think u can get a better deal. off the list of most affordable convertibles there is no car faster or better than the mustang.

  • I love this car, dont buy a Civic - 2002 Ford Mustang

This has been the best new car I have ever owned. Style, good fuel miles, sounds great, not like an electric razor. For a performance car it has a great ride and is comfortable. Standard features are very good. Loads of aftermarket parts to upgrade. With age the Mustang only gets better. Thanks Ford!!
