This Year's Model Updates:

Lower-line V6 models get standard 16-inch alloy wheels and a new hood while losing the fake side scoops. Premium models can be equipped with a Mach 1000 audio system. Both this system and the Mach 460 get speed-sensitive volume. Later this year, an MP3 player will be available. Performance Red paint is replaced with Torch Red.

Pros:
  • Strong V8 power with GT, fun to drive, appealing all-American style, good crash-test scores, ragtop option.
Cons:
  • Solid rear axle, excessive gingerbread detailing on GT, poor stereo ergonomics, flaccid seats.

I feel the car is a good balance between comfort and performance. It is quick and handles well enough to be fun, and comfortable enough to be my daily driver. The car also gets pretty good gas mileage ranging from 21-26 mpg.

Overall this car is great for anyone. It doesnt have 350 horses under the hood but its got so giddy up. Its quick and always reliable. I have owned a Pontiac Trans-Am and this Mustang GT and by far I like driving the GT.

I have had my Mustang GT now for over a year. I bought this car based on a lot of the reviews I found on this very site, which led me to want to write my own. My review is this: What a great car! Havent had a single issue since I purchased it. The V8 runs fantastic at 79,500. Car handles well and the ABS/traction control work great. The build quality is as advertised, excellent. No rust, no broken plastics, no faulty or cheap electronics. Everything works and works well. The Mach360 stereo rocks like the day it was made. The 6 cd changer acted a little funny the first time I used it but since then hasnt had a single problem (the person I bought the car from didnt use it.)

Its my 3rd Mustang GT. Ive had a 94, 96 and 99 each having over 100K by the time I traded them in.No mechanical failures on any of them, and with minimal maintenence. Because I travel alot for work, Ive opted to buy a car that does great on the highway. Its comfortable in long range trips, as it is in city driving. Its not a bone jarring ride like most other coupes. Quiet ride for the most part, V8 burble only makes itself heard on hard accelrations and wind noise is well controlled.

I drove but didnt by the GT pony. Im 57" and found it to not have enough head room. The interior was very plain. My biggest problem though was the big drop in power when shifting into second gear. The car REALLY dropped out of its power band.

We had a 98 V-6 Mustang and this new GT blows it out of the water! Massive improvement on power compared to our old car. Too many people want to race us now! Ride comfort is good and it has a good sound system.

Performance is not as fast as the Camaro/Firebird V8s; but with a little tweaking you can hit that 300hp line and be right up there with them. As far as comfort; well the 5-speed stick is quite a reach to get to; the most comfortable place for it would be where the first cup-holder is. Same with radio controls; they are very hard to reach. The driver/passenger seat also do not recline very far.

I bought my 02 GT in August of 04 and Im loving it. Ive had no problems mechanicaly or otherwise. I wish it had a little more handling than it does but the overall affect is awesome. I get about 24-26 mpg at around 70-75 mph which is just under 2000 rpm. Im 64 305 lbs and Ill be the 1st to testify that this the sports car for us big guys. Imports are cool but a Miata or Integra are too small for someone my size

  • A lot of bang for the money - 2002 Ford Mustang

I purchased my 2002 GT in March of 2007 after waiting many years to be able to afford one. This car is a real head turner in Laser Red with the factory 5 spoke aluminum rims. I have upgraded the exhaust with a set of Flowmaster 40s (mufflers) and the intake with a K&N cold air intake. Both aftermarket options cost about $500 installed and completely changed the car and woke it up. Would recommend these ad-ons to anyone. A real fun dependable fuel efficient car for the money. I bought the car with 49,000 miles on it and now have 57,000 and I have done nothing but change the oil and put rear brake pads on it.
