  • Transmission - 2010 Ford Fusion

Transmission slips or clunks into gear. Recall did not fix problem. There are pages of Fusion owners on internet with same problem. My car is at dealers for the third time (counting recall) for this dangerous problem.

  • Poor build quality and materials - 2010 Ford Fusion
    By -

This is the worst new car Ive ever bought. After only 1000 miles, I have more defects than other cars having >100K miles. I am appalled this car ever made it off the line. Trunk leaks, bad window regulator, dash and door rattles, failed side sensors, loose sun visor, all before the first trip to the dealer. Why buy this car?

  • FORD - the acronym fits... :( - 2010 Ford Fusion
    By -

Well, bought it in October, and since then I have not had it for more than 2- 3 weeks at a time without taking it in for service. 4 - 5 times I have had to bring it in for air locks (gurgling in the cooling system) Even in my rental too... Head gasket has been relplaced, there was also coolant in one of the cyliners. Timing belt was out by 7 degrees, this was the dealerships fault, but still another issue with a Ford. High pitched squeal coming from the heater, which has been fixed. Sync randomly cuts out on me as well. The car would also nearly stall when I turned the ignition, then catch itself and roar to life. So, as of right now I do not recommend it

  • I4 2.5L auto 6-speed transmission woes - 2010 Ford Fusion
    By -

I want to love this car so much, but please do not buy the 2.5L 4 cylinder 6-speed auto like I did. The transmission is different in the two larger engine sizes. The tranny mated with this engine WILL fail. Do some research if you dont believe me. Our transmission problems started a week after ownership. The problems go like this: High RPM "flare" during acceleration on gear shifts 3-4 or 4-5 @ 35+ mph. The car will jerk forward violently. Theres also a very loud "clunk" when you go into reverse. The dealers will not help you until the car is dead. I took it in 3 times before they found a fault. Our fusion has been in service since Feb 8th. Today is March 2nd. Ford has not taken care of us

This car replaced a Dodge Charger SXT 3.5. I read many of these reviews about the great I4 performance and see a few really have the V6. The performance is not good at all, with many up and down shifts during a typical Chicago rush hour commute trying to keep up. With just a choice of D or OD, you cant even help it along. The fronts seats are also pretty hard and even though multi-adjustable, I cant get a good position. The build quality is very good and wish I had the choice of getting the more powerful motor (company provided car). So far, I am not even getting great gas mileage at around 25 mpg for the 1st 2k miles. I have a 3.2 Audi that bests that by 4 mpg & S550 that matches it.

  • Disappointed owner - 2010 Ford Fusion

I fell in love with Fusion and at first the car delivered style and a great ride. However, after only 4 months the transmission was a problem and I was told the car was not safe to drive. It has been out of commission and on the dealers lot for over 2 weeks with no return date. In all fairness, Ford Motor Co. has been trying to be helpful, but this is a disappointing experience. I bought a new car to have a safe and reliable vehicle and this car wasnt.

  • problem transmission body valve - 2010 Ford Fusion
    By -

got this car in Sept 09and loved it, at first. It handles nicely on the road, and is a comfortable drive. Unfortunately, around 10,000 miles I started to have a problem with the car not being able to shift properly. So i took it to the shop and they tell me i have a transmission body valve problem, but unfortunately I cant get the part for 1 1/2months because they are back ordered. They also dont offer me a loaner, but say i can continue to drive the car "but will have problem with quick acceleration, like getting on a highway." this is very disturbing and want to know how other people have done that have had this trans valve problem, b/c it seems to happen to a lot of the 2010 fusion
