  • update to i want to love it again - 2006 Ford Fusion

car had 6 oil leaks. couldnt find issue with the transmission, airbag light "fixed". got car back Tuesday, was back in this am because of tranny light on again and airbag light. airbag kit needs to be replaced, not covered by warranty, and dealer cant find the issue with the powertrain/transmission light. word to wise, do not by a first year make/model of any kind. so my car will continue to skip and buck until I can find the right mechanic I guess! good luck!

  • Blew the engine... - 2006 Ford Fusion
    By -

Bought this car at a public auction four months ago. Car was mint, inside and out, you could have eaten off the engine. Consumer reports labeled it a "good bet". Dont be fooled like I was by consumer reports. The car had 98,000 kms when I bought it. Blew the engine at 106,000 kms. Replaced the engine with a new one. I now have 111,000 kms. on the car and this new engine is going through oil the same as the first one did before it blew. If you have this vehicle, keep an eye on the dipstick. Update to may last post, titled "Blew the Engine", which was last night. Guess what, the second engine has blown. Im gonna keep this short, STAY AWAY FROM THE FUSION. JUNK...Plain ans simple.

This car doesnt come with any safety features at all the ABS,Traction Control and Side Air Bags all come in a package group. Electronic Stability Control isnt even a option at all. Handles well but could handle better if it had Electronic Stability Control.

  • BAD TRANSMISSION ON 2006 FORD FUSION - 2006 Ford Fusion
    By -

I puchased a brand new 2006 Ford Fusion because of reliability and currently have about 74,000 miles on it and the transmssion is going bad- it slips and knocks. Talked to numerous mechanics and been given runaround! Will drive car until it dies but now I know why people are buying Toyotas and Hondas! BOBALU2

  • Dont buy 2006 Ford Fusion - 2006 Ford Fusion

I LOVED it when I first bought it @ 49k miles.....when I got close to 90k I started having issues with it jerking when accelerating onto on a highway or so....NOW the transmission is SHOT @ 94k miles I have seen so SOOOO many complaints on this & people have sent these to FORD....so why hasnt FORD recalled the 2006s? I should not be having transmission problem on a car thats only 5 years old & the 2006s were the 1st Fusions. When they have recalled other models/years 2007-2010... I WILL NEVER buy another FORD in MY LIFE I was always a Toyota girl & wanted the fusion bc of the look...Biggest MISTAKE I MADE

  • Premature Clutch Failure - 2006 Ford Fusion
    By -

With only four years on the car and 100k on the odometer, the clutch has already failed on this car. I am very disappointed, to say the least. The Fusion has been a relatively decent car up until now, and I am left wondering if this is the start of the decline of the reliability of this vehicle. Otherwise, its been a decent performer, and I do like the 6 CD change, the steering mounted controls and the sunroof. This was one of the few midsized sedans I could find with a manual transmission, and now Im wondering how smart that purchase was.

  • Dont buy it - 2006 Ford Fusion

I have had my fusion since March of 2006. The 3 yr/36,000 mile warranty is gone and so is my transmission. I have had crappy gas mileage on this car pretty much since I bought it. Ford says I need to replace the transmission because of a bad solenoid and they will contribute $1000.00 to the cause. Ghee thanks Ford! If it wasnt for the crappy transmission I wouldnt need your help at all. Will not buy another Ford!

  • Visability and Steering Are horrible - 2006 Ford Fusion
    By -

I owned a Taurus for 10 years before purchasing the Fusion, and loved it. I am trading in my Fusion. The back-end is too high and limits visability. Ive had to brake suddenly more than once. Also the steering is too tight!! It feels like there is no power steering. You need a wide approach just to make it into a typical parking space. I wont be trading for another Ford, because the choice is limited in this price range.

  • Used to be a good car, but now... - 2006 Ford Fusion
    By -

When I got this car, I opted for all the features I could get. I wanted something with decent mileage, yet good driving. Previously owned two Ford Taurus in past, but the Fusion is not as good as a Taurus. I think the Fusion is built for tiny & skinny people who dont mind shelling out hundreds of dollars after 2yrs of driving. When I got the car new it Looked sharp & styling like a mini Cadillac. But Its interior is small. Overall I wish I would of got the Ford 500. Mileage is not made for anything but City driving. Tires wore out after 24K miles, and recently the driver side car handle broke completely off so cant get in car normally. Have to take to dealer to see what they can do.

  • Should have shopped around more. - 2006 Ford Fusion
    By -

I have owned this car for almost a month. I have been very disappointed. In town, I am only getting about 17mpg. On a recent vacation, we got up to 22 by the monitor, but we figured more like 27. When I first take off from a complete stop, there is some hesitation. The rear seat belts are very uncomfortable for an adult. The turning radius is not very good and makes it hard to get into a straight parking space. If I could, I would return it...this is my first new car. I wish I had shopped around more. Needs a digital clock. When the radio is off, its just a dark space. Plastic looks cheap.
