Overview & Reviews
The Freestyle is an all-new crossover wagon from Ford. Built on a Volvo platform, it incorporates the Swedish brand's safety and all-wheel-drive technology, while offering six- to seven-passenger seating capacity.
- Truly roomy seating for six passengers, plenty of cargo space, balanced ride and handling characteristics, lengthy list of safety features.
- So-so acceleration, some low-grade interior materials, no stability control or navigation system.

Lemon - 2005 Ford Freestyle
By D. Anderson - September 8 - 10:13 amTrouble 35 days after purchase. Poor MPG, not as advertised, transmission leaked & completely went out, repaired, a/c unrepairable, vehicle surge (dangerous), front steering went out, could not turn left. Brakes recalled and replaced at 7500 miles, body not attached to the frame properly, computer malfunctions, wiper fell off, emblem fell off. 14 service calls in 1 year. Vehicle looks good, but has huge glare front windshield, dashboard red KLM cannot be read in daylight, dash board lights intermittent. In a tunnel lights goes out when they should light up. Always opposite of normal function. BBB Auto Line investigation. Would not advise anyone to purchase a Freestyle.

1st Ford Ive been unhappy with - 2005 Ford Freestyle
By Tam - May 6 - 9:40 amThis is the 6th Ford weve owned. Loved the others, cant stand this one! There is a new rattle every day, the speakers are shot, and now the engine is making this horrendously loud whine that no one can figure out. They say it may be the alternator - not covered by the powertrain warranty, and costs upwards of $700 to replace! It does have lots of room, handles nicely, and gets decent gas mileage. But I dread getting in it every day because of all the rattling and whining. I would trade it in in a heartbeat except the resale value is pathetic. Its worth about a third of what I paid for it just 2 years ago. Ford, you really disappointed me with this one!

Freestyle Fiasco - 2005 Ford Freestyle
By Nancy Triner - April 24 - 1:06 amDumb me! Didnt take a 24 hour test drive. New engineers needed at Ford. Horrible road noise, very loud turn signals and windshield wipers, blind spots, vibration in pedals when braking, rear seats rattle, very sensitive steering. What a mistake!

The Real Freestyle - 2005 Ford Freestyle
By ainslie eden - November 10 - 3:16 amAfter having read the reviews on the Freestyle, Im wondering if we are driving the same car. In the first 6,000 km I have had the transmission fail, the tie rod end rubbing when I make a tight turn; something the dealer said is being looked into. So my review is dont buy one until all the bugs are out of this car.

Lemon of a car - 2005 Ford Freestyle
By Angry Jim - October 31 - 8:29 amIn one year, 6 weeks in the shop. Transmission valve, EGR, main computer, rear brakes (twice in 50K miles). Couple that with Fords poor service and you have a very angry and disappointed customer. In right now for the second set of brakes, called in advance to check, yes, they have the rotors. Show up at 7:25 for a 7:30 appointment. Their service driver doesnt start till 8:00 then he didnt finish his breakfast till 8:15. Then they called me at 9:15 to tell me they really dont have the rotors. They have had my car for days at a time for warranty repairs and tell me they can take me to a car rental place. Never ever again will a blue oval sit in my driveway. Absolute junk.

My Lemon - 2005 Ford Freestyle
By Phil Menico - July 31 - 10:43 amDuring February my doors did not latch and I almost fell out (no indication). Then my daughter got out and the door would not close. The next day the same thing. The dealer said "We cant find the issue." Be careful in cold weather. The rear passenger door does not close properly and the dealer said "It is a design feature, all Freestyles are like that." Watch your kids. Try driving this car with any open window at above 35 MPH. You cant because there is a flapping wind noise that gives you a headache and you cannot hear anyone talking to you. The dealer said "It is a design feature." My Explorers V8 got better mileage than this car.
