This Year's Model Updates:

A new King Ranch SuperCab arrives for 2002, joining the SuperCrew version near the top of the F-150 food chain. All King Ranch trucks get lighted visor mirrors with a HomeLink universal transmitter and a Travel Note recording device, while KR SuperCrews have automatic climate control and an available second-row bench seat that replaces the standard rear captain's chairs. Get the Harley-Davidson edition for a supercharged 5.4-liter Triton V-8 engine that adds 80 horsepower and new styling cues in the form of flame pin striping and chrome accessories, a new upper chrome billet grille, clear-lens headlamps and clear-lens parking lamps embossed with the label and rivets surrounding the center cap of the 20-inch wheels. The lower-line F-150 XL gets standard air conditioning, and its 4.2-liter V6 receives a ULEV rating. An FX4 off-road equipment package can be added to XLT or Lariat 4WD models and includes upgrades like Rancho shocks, skid plates, special wheels and unique trim. Carryover improvements from late 2001 include seat-mounted seatbelts on SuperCabs, child seat-tether anchors and rear head restraints on SuperCrew models. Also added late in 2001 were optional heated front seats (XLT and Lariat), a power sunroof (XLT and Lariat SuperCab and Crew) and a rear-seat entertainment system (XLT and Lariat SuperCrew).

Pros:
  • Wide range of configurations and features, capable powertrains and suspension, attractive styling inside and out.
Cons:
  • Everybody and his brother has one.

Ive had my F-150 for 4 months/5000 miles now. I used to drive a Dodge Ram with the 5.2L V8 and was a little leary about going to a V6, but needed better mileage. Im not disappointed. While it doesnt have the power of a V8, it is more than adequate. I love the exterior design and interior features. The ride and handling are fantastic for a truck.

This is an awesome truck. It was not what I originally was looking for ,but after a test drive- I was under her spell. The power at the tip of your toes is menacing. The handling is as good as a vette and so is the excelleration. Just ask the one that I passed. The SVT division at Ford has put all the other dealers on notice. Put up or shut up!! SVT has put up and in big way. And by the looks of the concept lightning they only have to compete with themselves.

A grin everytime you drive it! If you get this truck, spend the extra $600 on a chip and filter. If you decide on a blower pulley (~$200), youll need a pair of traction bars. ;) For the extra $1,500 (including the traction bars), its not all that much $, considering youll smoke a Vette, and have $15k left in your pocket!

I spend a lot of time in my truck using it in my two businesses. It has to be comfortable, tough and still look good to make a good impression on my customers. My F150 does all that. the only thing i think could be better is the mileage. I get 15 to 17 mpg high way with a load and pulling a trailer, but in the beginning, I was getting 18 and 19 mpg. My truck is two years old, has over 70,000 miles on it and workw with me every day, but it still looks and handles great. I just drove it in Atlantas 4th of July parade pulling a float and it was the best looking truck there!

Nice overall vehicle fun to drive, looks good, decent power for 6-cylinder (mines a manual trans), and not bad fuel economy - very important today! Seats could be a little more comfortable, but other than that, a great truck. Dont know how it performs towing would probably have bought an 8-cylinder if I were using it in that capacity. Not much room in the cab for passengers, especially with a stick, but I drive alone 99% of the time, so not really an issue. Definately not a family-vehicle, but perfect for my use.

Quiet, reliable, solid performer. Best mileage I can achieve with the 5.4L is about 16 mpg. I tow a 4000# boat with no problem (12 mpg). 19,600 to date and no problems - "knock on wood."

Truck has been great, like all Ford trucks. Wish I could say the same for some of their cars.
