Runs like a clock, no surprises. Very predictable vehicle. You can tell when something is going- a basic van which is very comfortable- especially for taller people. Nothing special but cheap to maintain and operate.

The Aerostar was the largest minivan back in 1995. It has terrific interior space. The ride is very smooth. Vehicle is heavy so brakes dont last long. Great for towing camper, boat, etc. Not as safe as its replacement, the Windstar. Much more reliable, though. It has been a good van, even at 100K.

Weve had this van for 6 years and with 2 small kids it has been to the beach and elsewhere several times a year with no trouble. The only problem we have had is the side door not closing well after 5 yrs. of hard slamming otherwise I have 127K miles on it and hope to get another 70K before I trade it in for another ford hopefully.

This van has always been dependable.Even though I dont put alot of miles on it there are many short trips a day for all nine years. Ive never had any failures. It has the trailer package and the 4.0 engine and with a heavy load handles and has good performance. Only parts thus far are shocks, brakes, and a exhaust flex pipe. I now 54000 miles.

This van is a great family vehicle! This van has a great radio. This van has pretty good pick up for a van. This van is very reliable.

What a great van for the $$. It has been very reliable with only repairs to the brakes (which I assume is considred maintenance) and 2 seat belt clasps. We spend a lot of time on the road loaded with teenagers and luggage and have not been left stranded. On October 3rd, it was in a roll over accident, and in spite of 4 complete rolls, it held up beautifully. The 3 seatbelted passengers received only moderate cuts and bruising. I am definately looking for another Aerostar!

Excellent Reliability!! Other than the normal brakes, some front end parts, muffler, the van is so reliable its scary. Maybe that why Ford stopped making it. We have no garage, live in New England, and the body is excellent. No rust out anywhere. It gone through the kids hockey, scouts, loads of cheerleaders and no being used for college moves with no problems!!

  • Wish I Could Buy a New One - 1993 Ford Aerostar

115K and only unscheduled repairs have been tie rod ends and an A/C compressor. Tuned up at 85K when gas mileage dropped a bit. This is only Aerostar Ive seen with a manual transmission and this probably helps with fuel consumption which is a steady 19-20 around town and 24 on the road (I record every fillup). Fun to drive? - absolutely not. Comfortable? - reasonably so. Practical? - very much so. Would I buy another one? - Oh if I only could. If Ford still built th Aerostar, I would be in shopping for a new one today.

I bought this vehicle and so far put over 168,000 miles on it. It has never been on a hook. I changed the spark plugs once at 113,000 only because I felt guilty. Brakes are the only weak point.

Bought it new, and there never has been a mini van built since that can actually carry 7 pasangers and thier lugguage. My new car is a Ford Excursion (ie the F250 SUV) and it has less luggage room than the Aerostar.. So sad the mini vans and SUVs these days are not desined to take your gear with you..
