This Year's Model Updates:

The 2013 Chevrolet Volt gets a number of worthwhile upgrades. A new "Hold" mode makes it possible to save all-electric operation for times when it's most efficient to do so. A new Low Emissions package grants the Volt access to HOV lanes in California and New York. New options include a center rear armrest and forward collision and lane departure warning systems.

Pros:
  • Appealing standard features
  • Useful 300-mile maximum range
  • Excellent crash test scores.
  • Low monthly fuel cost in normal driving
Cons:
  • Questionable value
  • No power front seats.
  • Cramped two-person backseat
  • Touchy brakes

  • Even form a guy who likes sports cars! - 2013 Chevrolet Volt

I own my volt for just a month now. What a blast it is to drive! In sport it is really neck snapping, not to mention it drives and handles like a dream. People ask me all the time about it, it gets so much attention.

I traded my BMW X3 for the Volt. I am thoroughly impressed with the technology and engineering of this vehicle. My wife and I primarily use this for around town driving with the occasional road trip. I love the fact that you will essentially not use any gas in city driving as long as you stay below the 38 mile range - so no C02 or carbon monoxide emissions at all. The car is comfortable (I am 63") and very quiet. The standard features are excellent. Chevrolet hit a home run with this car and I love buying American again.

  • A true bargain if leased....$299/month - 2013 Chevrolet Volt

My Volt replaced a 20ishmpg Lexus. Over the 36,000 miles of the lease the Volt will save me $7200 with gas at $4.00 gallon. (My commute is within the Volts electric ranged...so no gas.) The actual cost to me over the old Lexus with gas savings is about $99.00 a month for a very nice $40,000 car. Obviously if something drives gas past $4.00 the savings go up even more.

  • Love our new volt! - 2013 Chevrolet Volt

The 2013 volt is fun to drive, accelerates quickly, very quiet, fun new technology, low maintenance. We have used less than 1 gallon of gas in the last two weeks while driving it daily. Two carseats fit in the back seat and the trunk has room for our double stroller plus more.

  • Amazing technology, fun to drive, but at a price - 2013 Chevrolet Volt

Great car... replaced a BMW 335I... this car isnt a bimmer, but its a very well built vehicle although there is a lot of plastic... fun to drive... but, you have to learn how to drive it... I drive mostly in low around town (not in the traditional sense as car is one speed), it helps regenerate the battery more efficiently... getting between 38-45 miles on a charge this way... when driving on open road, hold feature is outstanding... saves all the electric... Averaging 36 MPG when on all gas ... Overall MPG will depend on how you drive... the more you use it as an EV the higher the MPG... Car is pricey but so is all new technology... happy to buy American... dont miss the Bimmer...

Can a car be enchanting? This little marvel surely is to me. What can be better than a car that hardly burns any gas? (Smoking was banned in restaurants and bars a while back for humans, now the cars have to stop too!!!) This, and yet still provide a much smoother and more comfortable ride than any gas-based car? Sure, the car has its little quirks, mentioned in many reviews, but to me they seem minor, even charming. The backseats? Of course they are not very roomy, but my children like the bucket-style seats, and their middle console with their cupholders, USB ports (with adapter) and storage compartment. The touch sensitive buttons? Actually, they work really well, and look kind of cool (just dont try to clean them while the car is powered on). Electronics integration with phone, navigation, etc is excellent. I use it with a 240V charger (ClipperCreek ), which is a nice accessory to have for any EV. I am surprised that by now not every car works with an electric motor coupled to a range extender. Its just a much better design than a transmission and provides a much superior driving experience. I bought it used in Feb 2016 and driven 8000 miles, and been to the gas station only twice (last visit in June 2016, over seven months ago!).

It is impossible to update the navigation system on this vehicle. I can buy an update for a 2012 and a 2014, but GM hasnt seen fit to update the 2013. I am old enough to have owned a Chevy Vega and I vowed never to own a GM auto again but my wife wanted an electric car.

That its a great car. It is one of the most advanced vehicles on the road and you can buy a used one for a fraction of the original price.

  • Love my Volt. Never kept a car this long before. - 2013 Chevrolet Volt

I love cars and have a terrible new car addiction. Over the years I have had well over 20 cars in all different price ranges. I bought the Volt new in 2013 and still own it today, it has kept my interest longer than any other car I have had. I was looking for a 4 door hatchback/wagon that would be economical and I wanted the tax credit. After the tax credit, GM rebate and dealer discount I paid about $26,500 for one with leather, Bose and a somewhat worthless navigation system. The Navigation and poor user interface would be my biggest gripe about the car. I like the style, it drives really nice, rides good and is quiet. I love plugging in at home and not stopping for gas. Not sure I could go back to a gas only car. I bought the home charger and think that improves the experience 100%. Messing with the cord and slow charging is a PITA, get the fast charger. I had a few repairs, it had to be towed when it was newer because a battery control module was bad. All repairs were under warranty and havent had any issues the last 2-3 years.

This is a great car. I couldnt be happier with my purchase. Chevy really did a great job engineering this vehicle and they thought about every little detail. If youre looking for a Lexus then dont buy this car but for what you get in this price range its definitely the best buy. Its a really advanced car with a lot of features that make it a joy to drive. Everyone loves my car and theyre blown away by how well it drives, how nice it looks, and how quiet it is. The regenerative braking is one of my favorite features, youd be surprised how many extra miles you get just from recharging your batter whenever you slow down, come to a stop, or even let the car coast. This is a huge money saver and makes changing your break pads a very rare occasion.
