  • Whining sound from air conditioner - 2005 Chevrolet Tahoe
    By -

I was very happy when I first purchased my Tahoe. Once I hit 400 miles I noticed a whining noise coming from the air conditioner. Sounded like a bad belt? Per 2 Chevy dealerships it is a noise that is considered "normal operating noise". This is driving me crazy!! Now I am dealing with GM. They said ALL GMs have the same noise. But I have never heard it in any vehicle I have been in. If I had to do all over I would have never bought it. I would prefer a quiet air conditioner. I will see if GM really stands behind their products.... and 100% satisfaction guaranteed!!

I got my Z71 Tahoe in December of 2004 and I love it. I wanted that car for several years and I finally talked my parents into getting it for me before I left for college. Before my Tahoe I had a Jeep Wrangler, which was fun, but I wanted a better car. Since Ive gotten it I receive at least one compliment a day on my car. I love it. The only other thing I want to say is I wish it had better fuel economy and I hope you try to keep the tradition Tahoe look in the new 2007 models, I wouldnt want Tahoes to become futuristic looking like most cars do today.

I purchased my Tahoe in June of this year and I am really satisfied. I only have 2 regrets and that is that I did not go up to the LT and that I dont better gas mileage especially with the price of gas, but other than that I have gotten several compliments on my new truck. I purchased the Bermuda blue metallic and it truly does turn heads with/without having rims which I am considering.

  • Like it .. Love it - 2005 Chevrolet Tahoe

I like this Tahoe, but am going to make some changes. it needs bigger rims and tires, a DVD system, and the glass needs to be darker. Once that is done, I will go from Like it to Love it. It drives great, can fit 3 full size car seats in the back and the AC is freezing.

  • Tims big Red Tahoe - 2005 Chevrolet Tahoe

This my first Chevy SUV, which is all Ive have been talking about getting for 5 years. I love my Tahoe. Its big enough for our family, plus keeping all my work gear in the back. Our son cant wait to turn on the DVD player. I, on the other hand, cant wait to use the GPS system on our first road trip to somewhere that we have never been before. My wife loves its roomieness plus the fact our son can watch his DVDs and we can still listen to the XM radio. I will buy another Tahoe down the road.

  • Z-71 Experience - 2005 Chevrolet Tahoe

Smooth ride w/ excellent towing capacities. Hatch door better than barn door which obscures view. Leather appointments hold up well. Large mirrors which give good visual impacts. Steering is tight and a/c makes some noise....trying to cool down the big interior. Computer set- up not easy to learn and evaluate

Picked up loaded Z71 on 02/17/05. We love the interior room and the smooth ride. Interior plastic is too cheap for a $40K+ vehicle - shame on GM! Gas mileage could be better but 16-17 isnt too bad for this size truck. Used 4x4 once and it seemed okay. Climate control makes a loud thump when energized - dealer says this is normal? Passenger side has a buzzing noise at 40-45 mph that cant be isolated - maybe wind noise? Had a major water leak on the rear hatch. Dealer claimed it was a faulty wiring harness compromising the gasket - well see if they were right. Overall still skeptical about truck - within 30 days of ownership its been in the shop 7 days.

  • 2005 Tahoe Z71 - Only drawbacks - 2005 Chevrolet Tahoe
    By -

My new 2005 Tahoe Z71 came with a faulty tire pressure sensor. Already have to take in for service. Driver side window sprayer plugged - I repaired. Noticeable height variance to brake pedal over gas pedal. May prove to be a safety issue. Watch for recalls to close the variance in height in future months.

  • Love My Tahoe! - 2005 Chevrolet Tahoe

We love our Tahoe. The only, only, only thing we do not like about is the power button on the radio, the black is coming off. We called our dealer and we are covered under warranty but they will have to replace the entire radio. The car is strong and has good "get up and go". We got the 3rd row seat which we keep stored and put a plastic liner in the back. The rear A/C is AWESOME each row has two vents and it works fast! The CD changer in dash is sooo convenient and never skips. The 4x4 feature is amazingly easy to use. We will keep this car for a long time! We did buy small round mirrors to put on side mirrors and this made traffic easier to deal with.

  • Long haul - 2005 Chevrolet Tahoe

This is a great vehicle - It is small enough to use as a daily driver - is easy to drive around town - easy to park and rides and handles good. Where this SUV really shines is on a long trip - just came back from a 2,480 mile vacation - my family including 2 dogs (a 7 # Chihuahua & 90 # Golden) 12 large bags, cooler and other misc. stuff all fit inside the vehicle. I guess the weight of passengers / cargo etc. was over 1,000 pounds - set the cruise on 77 MPH and got 19.2 MPG. Handled the drive through Denver / Loveland pass (close to 12,000 ft above sea level) and never even broke a sweat. From 85 degree heat in Houston to -12 in Keystone, CO the HVAC always kept the cabin the right temp.
