The Chevrolet Malibu gets a few updates for 2006. Most interesting is a new performance-oriented SS trim level that features a 240-horsepower V6 engine. Chevy has also juggled the existing trim levels: the base model is now called the LS, the former LS is now the LT, and last year's LT is now the LTZ. Other minor changes include freshened front-end styling, new wheel designs, flashier trim pieces for the instrument panel, a new four-spoke steering wheel and standard child security rear door locks on every trim level.
- Smooth ride quality, fuel-efficient engines, plenty of passenger and cargo space, outstanding crash test scores, ample safety and convenience features, innovative remote-start feature.
- Lackluster interior, subpar brakes and steering, base four-cylinder down on power for this class, no stability control or manual gearbox.

Great car - 2006 Chevrolet Malibu
By Dave A - October 28 - 12:49 pmI bought this car, after hearing about is reliability and initial quality. I have seen nothing to contradict that. The car feels spacious on the inside, and even the most basic model comes with a wealth of accessories.

Purchased a new 2005 model - 2006 Chevrolet Malibu
By Jon - October 16 - 12:51 amThe car runs great and the ride is smooth. The exterior is beautiful with a solid look and feel to it. When you open and close the doors it feels solid. The fuel economy is good for a six cylinder. The pickup is great and Im glad I bought a six cylinder over a four cylinder. The only negative I see so far is that the interior is very plain. So if you can live with a boring interior I highly recommend this car.

By shebraatz - October 9 - 1:29 amI went from an SUV to a sedan primarily for mpg increase. I hadnt owned a "car" for 10 years. This vehicle is a pleasure to drive and only going to the gas station half as often is a nice break. Itll be interesting to see how much I like it once the winter roads start appearing and I have Front Wheel drive instead of 4 Wheel drive.

The Cavalier is a good car as well. I had it 10 years and it is still in good working order. I hope the testament of the Cavalier is a indicator of what to expect of the Malibu.

Love my NON-V.W. - 2006 Chevrolet Malibu

After it bled me to death in repair costs and poor gas mileage, I figured it was about time to come back to an American car that got great mileage. I was out in an Enterprise rental car when my Beetle was in the garage. The worse thing the V.W. dealership could have done we to have me out in that Chevy for four days. I loved it and went and bought one! I get 40mpg highway and about 30 around town.
