This Year's Model Updates:

The midsize Malibu has been totally redesigned for 2004. It now rides on an entirely new vehicle platform and offers a more powerful V6 along with must-have safety features like side curtain airbags and adjustable pedals.

Pros:
  • Balanced ride and handling characteristics, plenty of passenger and cargo space, ample safety and convenience features, innovative remote start feature.
Cons:
  • Down on power compared to its competitors, lackluster interior, no manual transmission available.

I REALLY LIKED MY CAR AT FIRST BUT HAVE HAD A FEW PROBLEMS WITH IT. MATTER OF FACT IT IS SITTING AT THE DEALERSHIP AGAIN...MY STEERING IS NOT RIGHT, IT IS TO LOOSE. I HAVE TOLD THEM TWICE NOW AND HAVE WRECKED MY CAR BECAUSE OF IT. I AM DRIVING A LOANER CAR NOW, 2004 MALIBU AND IT STEERS PERFECTLY. MY A/C ALSO HAS GONE OUT, OH DID I MENTION I AM IN FLORIDA! I HOPE THEY CAN WORK OUT THE PROBLEMS BECAUSE IT HAS POTENTIAL...

This car is solidly built. It wont pass for a beamer but its a nice attractive car. The interior is comfortable and the 3.5 L V6 is smooth and quiet. Overall a solid car.

  • Has a little of everything - 2004 Chevrolet Malibu
    By -

I test drove seven cars in one day and ended up with my Malibu. It had a little of everything that I liked about the Camery, Honda Accord, and Mazda 6. Four door, sunroof, style (looks like a richmans car) pick up and speed, spacious inside, tinted rearview mirror, no large blind spots and heated seats! It handles great. I like that I can start it from my front door and have it warmed up before I even open the car door. Trunk is large and I like that I can still carry long items by letting down the back seat. Radio controls are on the wheel which is handy. I havent bought or looked for a new car in ten years and I am so pleased with the Malibu.

My chevy maliby is fun and easy to drive and has a lot of conveniences like adjustible steering, pedals and seat. Excellent gas mileage. I like it very much, although Ive only had it for two months. My only wish is more confortable seating. Plusher seats.

  • CHEVY MALIBU AN AMERICAN CONTENDER - 2004 Chevrolet Malibu

finally a fun american built car to compete with foreign mid size cars. no need to keep buying foreign cars of this class when we have this great new american sedan. fun to drive and good looking. where does edmunds find lack of power? maybe they should try driving the v6 model and leave the 4 banger at the dealership.

  • THIS is a CHEVY?!?!?! - 2004 Chevrolet Malibu

What a pleasant surprise this was! I thought, OH its a malibu BIG deal... I was shocked and amazed by its quality, solid structure, and comfort. More personality than the Accord or Camry. It reminds you of a european sedan with its outward visibility and interior layout. Very nice.

Now have 2 Malibus, a 2002 LS & a 2004 LT VE. Love them both, but appreciate the newer consept of the later model, as this car deserves the Caddy Emblem...
