  • Not bad - 2004 Chevrolet Colorado
    By -

I bought my 2004 ZQ8 a couple months ago. I was rather iffy about it since it was only 2wd and winter coming. I like the fact that Im one of few with the 3.5L I5. Its a quick little truck and the gas mileage aint too bad either considering I drive 60 miles or so a day. If you want something to use as utility I wouldnt recommend this truck, but as for small jobs its perfect. I haul my quads and what not no problem. Interior could use a little work. Exteriors not bad..flashy. Rides a little rough.

  • Its no Tacoma! - 2004 Chevrolet Colorado

I bought this truck to replace a 2002 Toyota extended cab 4x4,v6. After almost 3 years of ownership that decision is haunting me. The Chevy does tow better and is more stable on the road, and I think it looks 100% better than the Tacoma, but thats where it ends. From the start the A/C wasnt cold. 2 trips to the dealer fixed the problem...leaking valve. Next it was the trailering wire harness, fried up. The dealer harvested a part out of a 2005 on the lot. Between those problems it ate the front tires up. Misaligned from the factory....not covered by warranty. All this with 23000 miles. At 42000 the entire throttle body and throttle position actuator were replaced. Boo,GM....BOO!!

  • Ouch - 2004 Chevrolet Colorado

I was pretty pleased with my Colorado until recently. I purchased it new 2.5 years ago. Great ride. Great gas mileage. Good in the snow. The starter had to be replaced after 6 months. My check engine light recently came on. Took it to the dealership. They tell me a cylinder needs replaced. $3,000+. Whoa! Of course the warranty has expired too. This shouldnt happen. The truck isnt that old and I hear of others with the same problem.

  • Good truck, but noTacoma - 2004 Chevrolet Colorado

I bought my 04 Colorado Crewcab Z71 4WD used with 20,000 miles. I think its the best US build compact crewcab truck. Overall I like the truck. GM did a good job with the design and its a good driving truck. So for Ive had to replace a headlight assembly, front axle seal and CV shaft, and the auto dimming/compass rear view mirror. All were warranty repairs but it seems odd given the low mileage. I really wanted a Tacoma. I guess should expect a few problems since I saved approx. $6000-$7000.

  • No problems - 2004 Chevrolet Colorado

The Colorado has been a pleasure to own. Have had no mechanical problems, fuel economy has been respectable, and it is easy to handle in tight spaces. 220 horsepower from the 3.5 motor was adequate. With the locking hard cover it was a pleasure on trips. Plenty of space for all sorts of gear and luggage. Off road ventures no problem plenty of clearance.

I have had this vehicle for a short time but have driven it everywhere. I like the shifting on the 5 speed and the power.

Interior looks a little on the cheap side lots of plastic. Vinyl trim around seat rails has some ugly gaps. i-5 power ok.

  • first new truck - 2004 Chevrolet Colorado

I really like my truck. I have the Z85 with the I-5 engine(which wasnt an option when filling out this form). However, its not as comfortable to drive on long trips as I expected. The lumbar support hits me about 4 inches too high. Also, if you plan on using a childs car seat in the back of the extended cab (using the jump seats) try your car seat before you buy!!! My daughters car seat hangs off the jump seat by about 60%, which makes me relucatant to put her in the back. Unfortunately, I cant use the front seat because there is no airbag over- ride.

  • Walked Away Safely - 2004 Chevrolet Colorado

On May 7, 2006, I was in a crash that involved my Colorado. I hit water and lost control and totaled my truck. After the fact, you could not recognize that it was a Colorado, but the fact remained I walked away from the accident with only a mild concusion. Its design, I think, was the main reason Im still alive today. Thanks Chevy.

  • Good Midsize Truck - 2004 Chevrolet Colorado
    By -

I was looking for a decent midsize truck when I stumbled across my Colorado. I had not seen one before and mine had just rolled off the tractor trailer. I test drove it with the plastic still on the seat. I have had almost no issues with it at all. It handles all the work I throw at it. Dont let the 5 cylinder put you off. It has get up and go. Good truck I would buy another one.
