Who woulda thought -- a Buick SUV? More accurately, the Rendezvous is one of a new breed of crossover vehicles that combines the look and utility of an SUV with the comfort of a touring car. The Rendezvous is based on the Pontiac Aztek, itself based on GM's minivan family consisting of the Chevrolet Venture, Pontiac Montana and Oldsmobile Silhouette.

  Claims that the Rendezvous is underpowered are fiction. With a 1000 lb. load, I have driven this over several steep mountain passes at 75 mph and had power to spare. I road tested 17 mini & mid-size SUVs. This was the most comfortable with the best laid out interior. The gear shift is on the steering column and the parking brake on the floor where they belong leaving ample room for storage in the center console. Cargo space is superior, if there is no third seat. Plenty of storage space underneath. Interior is not sporty but efficient. Exterior design is the wave of the future. It will not become dated. Dont be fooled by the low ratings that Edmunds and Consumer Reports gave the Rendezvous.

  Previously drove a GMC Yukon and loved it, but needed to downsize. My initial feeling in this vehicle was that I was in a spaceship once in the drivers seat. The ride is extremely smooth and the appointments on the interior and exterior are nice. I disagree thus far with Edmunds reviews that the RDV lacks engine power. I drive in the Metro NY/NJ area which requires rather fast acceleration onto highways and quick stops - this RDV handles both perfectly in my opinion. I drive at 70 mph and never felt that the vehicle wasnt keeping up. I have the third seat that folds down easily. Plenty of cargo room when necessary. Nice and easy entry and exit from this vehicle.

  This is the best vehicle that I have owned. Every person that has been a passenger or driven the SUV has expressed the comfort of the vehicle. It has been driven in deep snow and heavy rain and it handles like a dream. Power is less than I would like, esp., going up hills and mountains in Western Maryland. With careful and conservative driving, it can get 24 mpg going to and from work and better on long trips. Any future vehicle will definitely have AWD. It is simply the only way to go - drive!!

  A luxirous, fun to drive, alternative to a minivan or large SUV. Third row back seat gives plenty of seating, along with an adequate amount of storage. Power is 185hp, but gives plenty accelaration and quiet cruising, but also allows 24 mpg highway and around 18-19 in city. Also, it has AWD Versatrak and front/side airbags. For all the luxury, $2002 rebate, and selling for around invoice, a great value that puts it $10,000 less than Acura MDX or Lexus RX300 purchase price.

  Wrote a review after owning our RDV for 1 week. It has now been 2, months, (3000 mi), and we have never been happier with a new car. Fit and finish is pefect, as we looked in vain for some defect in manufacture, but have found none. The engine is powerful enough for passing on two lane roads and getting up to speed to enter a city trafficway. Who needs more? The comfort is outstanding, comparable to a nice sedan. If you want the room of a van and the ride of a car you should look at the RDV.

  I was looking for an SUV that wasnt a gas guzzler and that rated fairly well in safety testing. I drove a million cars, and I definitely got the most bang for my buck with the Buick. I drove an explorer before, and there is no compairson. The ride is smooth, there is no road noise, and the back seats are easy to remove. I could not be happier!

  Ive test driven several other SUVs and crossovers but this one clearly stood out from the rest. The ride is more like a large sedan. The view out back is not super large but its not worst than other SUVs. The interior room is outstanding. Even two adults in the back can ride in comfort of a good distance. Seats are very comfortable in all THREE rows. Radio buttons are in good reach and sized properly for larger hands. The disc brakes do a very well job of stopping the vehicle.
