This Year's Model Updates:

Production of 1999 BMW M3 four-door sedans ends this year as BMW concentrates on selling the M3 coupe and recently introduced M3 convertible. These models go unchanged for 1999.

Pros:
  • One of our all-time favorite sports cars. Carves turns faster than your dad carves Thanksgiving turkey.
Cons:
  • Price is a bit steep. Interior is a bit cramped.

Overly hyped -- not really that fast -- very nose heavy with lots of body roll. Acceleration is torquey but not blazing at all. This is my second and last BMW. They are very much like Audis -- kind of nice but unrealible and not really all that great a car.

I am 24 and was on the hunt for my first car, I really wanted an s4, but couldnt find the right price. I test drove the M3, and fell in love. Bought on the spot. The car has been a champ. Pulls off the line like a bat out of hell. The gearbox is smooth and crisp. Brakes are not bad. Sound system is ok, but could be better. Oil changes need to be performed frequently. The car is a lot of fun to drive. You find people want to race you all the time, S4 especially! In the winter get snow tires or store it.

I recently bought my M3 and havent had a chance to spend too much time with it but the time I have spent in it has been quite impressive. The handling is one of the most notable characteristics. It hugs the road with every turn. The engine is great... smooth, quiet, and delivers when you put the foot to the pedal. Low end torque is great.

This cars is a gem! It handles really well at high speeds and has a lot of power for its size. I love the color of this car. Its Titanium Silver with a dove grey interior, best color combo ever. I added 19x8.5 wheels with really low profile tires. Took some comfort away but its worth it. This is the funnest car to drive and its extreamly reliable. Its has a more elegant design then its younger brother the e46 m3.

Really fun to drive. This is the 7th BMW I have had. This one is a big improvement over the last 3 series convertile. Back seats are just for small people, but you dont have this as a people hauler.

  • Damn, the babys coming! - 1999 BMW M3

Ive owned my M3 for almost 2 years and I dread loosing it, but Im afraid a car seat is not going to work too well in this car. Car has amazing handling - I was told a while ago that the best way to find your cars slipping point is to go to a wide-open parking lot after a rain and try to spin it out. It took going 45 and JERKING the wheel to do it! The M3 has sneaky speed, like a slingshot. Once you get the RPMs up to around 4500, hold on. The Japanese vehicles may get you off the line, but theyre dust in the 1/4! Overall a fun car that Ill badly miss. BTW, this is also a much more practical car than it gets credit for. Go ahead, take the jump to M3.

  • Still like it better than the new M3 - 1999 BMW M3

The car has been outstanding both as my daily driver and as a driver education car on track. The car has been retired as a daily driver and kept only as a fun/summer car.

The M3 convertable is an extraordinary car. It handels incredibally and has a beautifuly finished interior. BMW did not cut any curves when designing and making this car. This is not a light weight sports car. It sits powerfully on the road. Long distance/highway trips are a dream in this car. I have been amazed at how well it handels in the rain. The leather finishes are true quality. I have owned this car for 3 years and absolutely love it.
